The English are considering painting rails white to stop them from buckling in extreme heat like recently experienced.

The heat didn't do this we were transposing the rail because of wear on one side so the low rail goes to the top and the high rail to the bottom and you have a new track.

Paul the standard guage distance between rails is 56 1/2 inches when that can't be maintained there is an allowable distance beyond that according to (FRA)(federal rail administration) before it has to be changed out.
