Were headed out from Brevard NC to the Shenandoah Valley. I want to run the BRPW all the way to Shenandoah and possibly farther north. I know there are some civil war sights I'd like to see. If there's   any must see places and good places to eat let me know. Thanks for any thoughts. :)

If you don't mind paying the money ($10, I think, I buy annual passes), I'd finish BRP and do Skyline Drive.... it overlooks the North Shenandoah in spectacular fashion (I think the $10 day pass is good for 3 days, Skyline is nice and different in both directions, and 10-15 degrees cooler than down below if it gets hot).

Whether you do or not, if you get off at Waynesboro/Staunton, 250 West from Staunton is an amazing and beautiful curvy mountain ride. Run over into WVa and take 220 North, 33 West*, 28/55 North to Seneca Rocks (this exits the Valley but is a great ride).  *33 East toward Harrisonburg takes you up and over the mountains, and down thru a beautiful cave of old growth trees.

Further North is Harpers Ferry (worth seeing the old armory ground and confluence of three rivers, some old homes converted to restaraunts) and Antietam battlefield (pretty touristy but lots of statues and monuments and visitors center).

Luray Caverns are supposed to be pretty interesting, if not too touristy, over on 211.

This is all my stomping grounds.  I will be out all day Saturday on a small group ride in the Northern area.

When will you be up here?  We could try a hookup if you want, I'm in Alexandria (do not come here, you can see bad traffic anywhere).

Jess sorry I didn't meet up with you but a friend went down and got busted up pretty bad just outside Brevard. Maybe we'll try again before summer ends.

I was wondering what happened to you.

Sorry about your buddy.... that sucks.

crap does happen.

Let me know if you are coming up, and we'll try again.
