Tank vent hose?

There are some spots under the IS where I park it at work. Originally thought they were oil spots from someone else's ride, but today I parked it alittle different jus' to be sure. Got back this afternoon & there's a new spot! I start crawlin' around in the parking lot lookin' under the bike & find they're actually gas spots that are "bleaching" the blacktop, (makes it look like oil).
I'm sure of these things...........
1) It's comin' from my IS.
2) It's gas.
3) It's comin' from the little hose that's clamped to the back of the kickstand mount.
4) It doesn't do it all the time. (There would be alot more spots, I always park in the same place.)
4) It never does this parked on my front porch. (Not a drop!)
So............ I've been reading since I got home. Tell me if I'm understanding this right.
This is the tank vent, correct?
This happens when the tank is full, (or nearly full) & the bike sits in the sun for 8 hours, like today.
It doesn't happen on my porch cause the bike's always in the shade.
This is normal? Or should I worry?
Temporary solution, put bike cover on every day. (They wont let me park inside anymore, since I mod'ed the pipes,) There is no shade to park in at work.
Long term solution, find another J O B that will let me park inside, haha.
I'm not really too worried. I've never noticed it to do this anywhere else, probably because the bike never sits in the sun unless I'm stuck at work. There's no gas fumes. It's only makin' spots 'bout the size of a quarter & some of that is jus' where it's eatin' the blacktop.
The thing runs like a scalded cat. No hesitations or "fluttering" throttle response. Not acting fuel starved. Jus' flat out screams, clean & mean!
What say y'all? Thanks!

Id say it is the gas expanding from the heat and dripping down the vent hose. Mine has done it a couple times.

The emperor has no clothes

Have a full tank with blazing sun @ 125 deg. and you`ll get more than a quarter size spot. It will gush out that sucker. Kinda scary but nobody crowds you in the parking lot!

Unless you're on a trip and need the extra range, when you fill it leave it on the side stand and only fill to the bottom of the filler neck.

Excellent suggestion! The station I use is one of the last in the world that doesn't have the hose turned up to 'bout warp 10, & I usually run it right to the top.
Gonna try that, thanks!

Filled mine the other day on the way to work and when I came out security stopped me to let me know mine had purged quite a bit of fuel on the ground. I'm in Az and the bike was in full sun all afternoon. Meathead is right in that the full sun in the southwest heat will expand that fuel quite a bit. I have an interstate tank now and have to realize I don't have to fill it up quite so much.  :cooldude:  :cooldude:  :cooldude:

Sounds pretty normal..........never happens when I park here in the A/C

Nothing to lose any sleep over.     Only time I really top mine off is if I'm headed out for a long ride, and leaving right after filling it up..
