What I want to know about the Maj. Hasan ordeal

He's guilty. 

He says he's guilty.

Everyone knows he's guilty.   

He's said he did it in the name of his religion. 

He tried to strike terror. 

He commited a terrorist attack.

Soooooo.....what I want to know is why in the hell won't the government call it a terrorist attack?  Who's responsible for that decision?

It's on my computer training modules at work.  They classify it as work place violence....as if some jerk threw a typwriter at someone.   

But at the same time, and in the same training module, they showcase examples of other service members going nuts and killing others.  They name those people, they say what they did, they say why these people killed, they say who they killed.......they classify those indicents as murder. 

Not Hasan.  They whitewash the entire episode.  They don't say it was murder.  They don't even say his name, they don't even say who he killed.   

This is all on DOD computer training modules that every service member, every civilian worker, every contract worker has to take and complete. 

They can't bring themselves to say that a muslim commited this offense.  It's as if there's some kind of weird cover-up or something.  But where does this come from?

Why isn't the media asking this question.  To me, that's the bigger story than the Maj Hasan trail.

Who ordered the whitewashing of this incident?  Does this go all the way up to presbo?

I don't think it's a money issue Jeff.  On the computer training, they clearly specify the other incidents with names, dates, the who, what, when and where.  Not Hasan.  It's only spoken of in general terms with no specifics....not even his name is spoken.

There was a huge problem in his vetting.  And I'm afraid it's the same BS as your point about how he is being labeled.  We may need to be a bit more careful admitting Muslims into the US armed forces, I could be wrong.

There have been no military executions since 1961.... and if this case doesn't merit one, none do.

Hasan has been paid over $300K while in custody.  I hope that his account is frozen and he will not be able to transfer the funds to some radical terrorist organization.  Our gov't sends them plenty enough money already.

Instead, by civil suit, I'd like the scumbag's assets to go into a fund for his victims.  I realize that its only a token amount, but it needs to go to his victims.

You are correct Karen. We are at war with "Terrorism". That war was declared by GW Bush and being carried on by our current Congress and President.

Our military will take care of domestic crimes caused by military officers. It's called a "court martial".

As I understand it he did enter a guilty plea BUT if they accept that plea they can't execute him. I want the P O S executed-something involving pork would work. And if this sorry ased S O B is STILL on the Army payroll-he needs to shave or be shaved. I remember in basic we had one or two guys that did not know the proper way to shave. One guy had to be shown twice. And one of the Sargents that was wounded has already committed suicide.   And he his being held in a civvy jail and being flown back and forth by Army helicopter because of"security"concerns.   I'm trying to figure out what this walking mooslim executioner is being treated with kid gloves??   RIDE SAFE.

If I understand it correctly, as much a $5 million is being spent on his security.  That money could be better used by his victims on their medical expenses.

Supposedly, if all efforts are not made to provide him security and aid in his defense, Hasan will be able to bring up those issues during the appeal process.

Hasan wanted to use in his defense, that "soldiers he killed would not be able to wage war against his fellow jihadist fighters."  In a pretrial ruling, he was denied the use of that defense by the judges.  What I expect him to do is, make the trial a platform for his ideology.  He expects to rally jihad support and be seen as a martyr.

I also know one of the survivors.... Every once in awhile him and his wife share stuff on the case. The military is doing what they can to keep these folks informed of what is going on...

Someone ask why he is being treated with kid gloves.... Well, they are bending over backwards to avoid making him a martyr and/or giving him appeal(s) potential....

As far as the classification of terrorism verses work place violence, well that is way up the food chain and VERY political.

Actually, that's not quite correct.   It is against DOD and Army Regulations to accept a guilty plea in any case where the prosecution is seeking the death penalty.    So, whether or not he wants to plead guilty, the court will not accept that plea.   He has fired his court appointed attorneys and has elected to act as his own defense.   I'm actually surprised he has been allowed to do so but, I am not privy to all the different legal details going on.   The military has not executed anyone since 1961 (I believe to be true.).    It's doubtful he'll get hung, it will probably be commuted to  a life sentence by a higher court, this assumes our fearless leader doesn't pardon him.

That's my point.  I believe it is too.  I can't think of any other reason for the decision.  I want to know who made it.....and why.  That's the real story here.
