The local 1 man shop that mounted my last car tire closed.  Looking for another in the area.  Anyone on here from northwest Arkansas area know of someone that will mount a car tire on my rim?

Thanks - Al

It won't hurt to call around and ask, even at the big shops.  If they deal with Goldwings, by now they have seen car tires on bikes and may be able to overlook any prejudices they may have about them.

One of the oldest Honda dealers in the U. S., located here in Baton Rouge, has started mounting them.  Hell is likely to freeze over at any time, now.

Sorry that I can't offer any specific help.

I would suggest learning to change it yourself. ;D You'll need the following:

New Tire

Rear Tire/Rim removed from Valkyrie

Bead Breaker

Something Stable to hold the tire still (Vice with Tire Iron Works)

1 BIG @$$ Friend

2 BIG @$$ Screwdrivers

Super Slippery Stuff

Tire Balancer (Or take changed tire to Honda Dealer!)

It takes some work, and the 1 BIG @$$ Friend REALLY makes a difference!

You'll most likely scratch your rim up a bit, but once you die a Firey Death no one will notice the marks anyways!

IF you can't find anybody in your immediate area look up Triple C in West Plains Mo. Not only will he mount a D/S for you-you can stand right there in the shop and watch him change them out. Hope you find someone close for your tire wurk.  :cooldude: RIDE SAFE.

I probably do need to get set up where I can do my own.  Both local Honda dealerships refuse to mount anything they didn't sell.  My first ct was mounted by a local dealer, but they changed owners and that ended.  I'll make a few more calls and see what happens.
This guy that used to do it suggested another independent shop.  I called him and patiently listened to him explain to me how I was putting myself at great risk running a car tire.  The rim design is different and a car tire won't seat.  He actually knows of riders in our area that had a tire come off the rim while riding and as a result they were seriously injured.  Should have hung up on him, because he wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise.  Seemed on a mission to educate me.
I tried to calmly explain that this will be my third car tire and I would challenge him to find me someone with a Valkyrie that used an intelligent installer that had that problem.  Needless to say he wasn't the guy to do the job.
As I continue calling around to ask, I won't be staying on the line for another "education" about the perils of my ill informed decision...

I believe that Russ or Scott at Thunderlake Cycles, 918-787-7988 in Grove, will mount a CT but not positive. They think outside the box like a lot of us. Scott does all the mechanic work. Be a good ride for you if it's not raining. Scott has worked on Valks before and knows how they tick even though he and Russ both ride Harleys. Couple of nice accommodating guys so don't be put off by the way they look if you meet them. My riding buddy and I usually come thru Pea Ridge to Sims store at Hwy 90 then west to K into Pineville, then H into Noel, west again on 90, to 43, north to O and then west into Grove. Lots of other routes and we change off as we feel the urge. Only about 50 miles but good riding. Give them a call if you haven't found anyone closer.
