Need a good set of speakers and amp that I can hear going down the road 75-80. Any suggestions? Probably the type that mount on the handlebars.  Thanks

i have the kuryakyn sound of chrome system self contained in the speakers for the 1 inch handlebars just plug a ipod or mp3 player in and turn it up unless you have cobra exhaust then don't even bother got mine 1/2 price on ebay  full price is a bit high at 400.00

I had these on my GL1100, liked them. The 500 system isn't great after 60mph, so go with the 900.

Put the 600 watt system on my wife's trike. The trike makes a bit more exhaust noise because of resonance under the trike body. The MC Tunes can be heard at highway speeds very well.

I got the unique 300 watt type on the handlebars and they sound good-running Mark T pipes with the silencers out at 70mph at full volume though.

Of course, with a StreetGlide fairing, you have other stereo options. As in all stereo; 4 speakers, 4 tweeters, 300 Rockford Fosgate amp and Kenwood marine deck

If price is a consideration, check out the "Shark" systems.  They are relatively inexpensive and have a surprisingly good sound.  I have a "100w unit" that is plenty loud on my stock exhausted tourer, while traveling highway speeds.  Their units are as powerful as 600w and many models feature wireless remote controls.

In a sound test, everyone at a gathering picked the sound quality of my cheap stereo over the sound of my friend's Interstate system with JB speakers.

On the downside, the "chrome job" on the Shark's waterproof speakers suck.  Chrome cleaner ate the paint right off.  I may rattle-can them black or replace them some day.  Replacement speakers are only $13 each.
