As some of you have recently met us we are Jerry and Sherry Sheffer and we live in Ellenton; along with us for some rides is Sherry's brother John Paul. John Paul has a black 99 Tourer and we have a black 2000 I/S. Recently Sherry and I bought what we call the "cottage",  a 900sf home tucked back off a road in Zephyrhills.  It is a weekend getaway and great start point for tons of rides. We know it is not far from Ellenton,  however we are very happy with it. We are thinking that one day (if there is any money left) this will be our winter home and we will build on our 6.5acre lot in Mountain Home,  AR. and be done with this ellenton area we don't much care for anymore. Now that we are settled, we want to post dates we are planning Brooksville area rides in hopes we can get a few more Valks along.  We also want to have tons of Valks in the yard so consider the cottage open for stops. Especially helpful for those coming from far away. We realize that it is beastly hot now,  however I would encourage  early rides as I feel getting back by 11:30am works well. Our ride Saturday was just that, and it was really nice for a good part of that being 70°.  We will be up Thursday night
the 22nd  and open for a ride early Friday and Saturday. We will also be up thursday night the 29th and open for a ride early Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday (the Holiday) also for this weekend we were wondering if there is a day we could host a burger/dog cook out as I would love to line the yard with Valks for all my new neighbors to see. We will be posting more dates as well. Text or call...
Jer cell: 941-685-4094; Sherry cell: 941-685-4095. For a cookout we would need a count and the best day for everyone to plan. Sorry, we will not have any alcohol.

It's good to see your enthusiasm shining through.  We need more folks that love the bike and want to share the wind.  Although we really don't like to get out of our comfort zone and go South of Ocala we would try to support a gathering of the Valkyries at your new place.

valkchik

Can't wait to see the new place. We are game for something this coming weekend, as long as the ride starts in Brooksville around  8am  and  gets us back to Lakeland by noon.  Otherwise it is just way too hot in our big black full-face, smothering helmets. We could ride without them but I'm not sure I like the choice of either frying our brains inside the helmets, or risk scrambling them on the side of the road without them. Yikes! But we'll see what the others say. If everyone decides the holiday weekend, I would recommend Saturday or Sunday as many of us probably have things planned with family on Labor Day itself.  Thanks for the invite, guys!

Well, small world indeed....Mt. Home, Arkansas. That's where my folks retired to many years ago after fifty years of teaching in the Iowa school system. I've spent many a day there, used to fly in to the Badger Regional a/p with my former wife who was also a licensed "pile-it." One of our favorite places to also fly to was Gaston's White River Resort. They had cabins on the river, fantastic restaurant, and a grass strip to land on. Some years ago they extended the strip, making it a bit less harrowing on take off since the terrain rose rather quickly around there. When the folks first built in Mt. Home, they were on the edge of town. By the time they had both passed, their house was surrounded. My bro-in-law still lives in their old house, my sister having passed away a couple years back. I've not been back since 1999, too many memories I guess. I know the town is booming, and always liked to travel the countryside with dad....he was a walking history book. You'll enjoy the area; lots of wildlife, fishing, hunting, and great riding.

Count me in, if it is not a liquid sunshine kind of day. I need to get back in the wind.

Life is like a hot bath. It feels good while you're in it, but the longer you stay in, the more wrinkled you get.

Congratulations on your new place Jerry & Sherry :cooldude:
That sounds great, we will be up to ride with you soon.

I assume you're talking about the Labor Day weekend. Got some directions? Might be able to do it, missing my Valk friends. I just have a problem with the heat, seems to affect me more now than before my episode last year.

larue

With enough notice i should be able to make this one, any body riding from the orlando area ( john and jeff etc...) and wants to meet and ride over let me know, would love to see all of you valk riders again. Thanks for your hospitality.

Great hearing about your new place in Zephyr Hills, Jerry & Sherry. Though I usually don't do many group rides since my wife says I don't play well with others, Doug and Bill might say otherwise. Both of your places are pretty close by, so, if the heat isn't REAL bad, I'm game if you keep me in the loop.

Wish I had chosen a closer place for a weekend getaway like you did. Our cottage is in Tellico Plains, TN. and it takes a weekend just to ride there, let alone do much else. Looking forward to meeting up with you both.

The first step in getting somewhere is deciding that you are not going to stay where you are.

Congrats guys.  :cooldude: Glad to hear you have a base around that area. Just let us know
when and where as I am always ready for a ride and just a little BS-ing.  :crazy2:
A cook out sounds great, just let us know what to bring. It would be good to see
all the Phat girls again. No not that, jezz!  :o  Stay in touch.  Peace out   Bill

Yes Labor day weekend for the cook out. I was thinking either that Saturday or Sunday. The address is 39305 Nordel Ln Zephyrhills 33542. State Road 54 to 23rd Street turn north, drive until the pavement ends (don't worry) and go 75 more feet and the paved Nordel ln is on the right. The house is the first one you see.
We are also open for an early ride Saturday the 24th
Let us know if you can come.

_Sheffjs_

Ok so we sooooo understand and do not like the heat either so we are offering a second date. The first date is still a go with us mind you. What about the Saturday before Thanksgiving that is Saturday November 23rd, that way there is plenty of time to plan and cooler CRUZen? Talk to us.........

Jerry and Sherry, your new place sounds great. Nice of you to offer to host a gathering of the Dragons. It is special to see a yard full of them all in one place.
November 23rd, now that's something I can work with. I work full time with a major Home Improvement retailer.. ;D. We call it THE DEPOT. Unless I'm already scheduled off, or Doug talks me into calling in sick (he does that), I need some advance notice.  So I will ask off for the 23rd of November regardless of who does what, this is my favorite time to ride!! I don't think I have ever been to Zephyr Hills...
I still miss her.

This sounds like a Great Gathering of the Valk's in the making. We will definitely try to make this one. Bert & Sherrie

I think I'll be able to get out and ride a little that weekend.  Hopefully it won't rain.  What should we bring?

Ok all, if you want to bring something, how about chips and or chips & salsa?? That travels ok  :D

Well nuts! I was planning on trying to make this and just found out we have company coming that weekend. Rita's daughter and gang making one last visit before school starts. Most likely one of her sons, et al, from St. Petersville(burg) will drive over for the same reason...and a chance to see his sister I assume. Oh well....there will be other times and cooler weather.

We won't be able to make the September date, but hope to be back south by mid November, so that date before Turkey Day might work for us.
