I wish to God those Deer would learn to read and cross the road only at 'Deer Crossing' signs.

Would save a lot of accidents.

that's when you need to be packing heat and go over and put it out of it's misery and get some tasty venison to boot.

Still doesn't make up for the loss of the cycle though. 

Critters of all kinds should know better than to run in front of motor vehicles while crossing the road, when will they ever learn?

THAT ruined some ones day. Hope the rider is O-K. Damn forest rats.  They could take some gubmint money and teach em to read and cross ONLY where the signs say to cross-RIGHT???  RIDE SAFE.

Had one jump out at me last year while in States, just about shat my pants...but don't agree with shooting them, we are the ones who put our roads through there forests etc, besides who would the bears and big cats eat.....bikers . But I would support reading lessons and better education on road craft for all deer
