I'd really like to know what kind of oil Ali liked.

There is a lot of talk about all kinds of oil on here but 441, 000 miles is the best reason I see to pick a oil.

Last time I talked with Bruce about such things Ali was fond of Rotella T6 5w-40 Synthetic (blue jug) and a SuperTech oil filter (made by Champion Labs) from Walmart.

Walmart's don't seem to carry SuperTech anymore, went to the Purolator "Classic" which are made in China (surprise!).  The Purolator PureOne's are made in the USA...or so I heard.

Allan is right... Rotella-T 5W-40 whenever I can get it... I have used Mobil 1 without giving it a second thought, though, when I couldn't get Rotella. I do always run synthetic, simply because I can go longer between changes than with dino oil... I usually change around 5K miles, give or take a few. Many, many changes have been performed on motel parking lots, as she and I lived on the road for three and a half years... I use Honda filters, and have most of the time... I have experimented with others, but I found it easier to just buy four or five at a time and carry them with us.

Among the many reasons I stayed with Honda motorcycles is that I'm not a 'wrench' myself, and I didn't want a bike that had to be babied... I've never knowingly abused ALI, but I'm never held back with her either. She's one tough bike... and she could take a lot more than her rider could!!!

Don't just dream it... LIVE IT!

See ya down the road...

Walmart carries the Rotella in 1 gal jugs.   As for the filters, Champion Labs made the Supertechs.  They were good filters.  But I read that Fram bought Champion so the quality will suffer if that is true.

Can't find any suppliers now for the Champion 7317.  Fortunately, I bought a dozen from Champion a year ago and these filters work on my Honda cars and the Valk.  Under $3 each.
