Sight Glass Replacement

Picked up some chromed items from Big Mike this year at Inzane, including chromed master cyllinders.  These did not have the sight glasses installed so I've been considering my options.  Earlier posts on the board mentioned welding a dime into the hole, but I was hoping to do better than that if possible and did some research.

Turns out I found a company in VA called New River Cycle Salvage.  http://newrivercyclesalvage.com/index.html.  They make custom-fitted sight glasses.  I took a micrometer reading at the base of the sight glass opening, provided the company with the measurements, and $15 including shipping later I had the new sight glasses for my chromed master cyllinders within a week's time.

Will not install these until the end of riding season when I'll have the other chrome installed along with new tires, but given the enclosed instructions including what sealant to use I can't see why this should be a real challenge.  I realize I'm somewhat fortunate that I don't have to deal with trying to remove old sight glasses from 15 year old master cyllinders, but Big Mike feels this can be done if one is careful.

Don't know how often this issue arises for Valk owners, but I thought I'd share the info. :cooldude:

Good info thanks.  I'm sure a lot of them are pretty crazed over at this stage of the game.
