Billyboy (popping)

Tundra:
Great post Doug.  cooldude Nice riding with you as always. Still have that popping.  tickedoff
I'll look into it this week, everything is tight I guess i'll pull the tank and look further.
   Talk soon. Bill

Hey Billyboy,
Check your upper & lower boots, all vacuum caps.  I have an inch lb. torque wrench for your header bolts. You said you de-smogged, so that will make much less rubber to look at.
If you want, bring it over this weekend. We'll find it.

billyboy:
Thanks Doug; I tightend all the boots, checked the the intake, exhaust, all is good with that.
Been desmoged and have just 1 vac line. It only pops when I let off the gas and just start
to accelerate and it just goes pop once.   Going to pull the tank for a new air cleaner and I'll
check the vac line for the fuel. The caps look good but I guess I'll replace them anyway.
Anyone else hear have an idea. I'm hoping to make it to up state New York in about a week
or so and I sure would like to get this fixed. Thanks Bill

John Schmidt:
Did you check/tighten ALL hose clamps? There's more than six. Also, when you removed the airbox to desmog, one hole in the bottom has to be plugged. And when reinstalling the airbox, you can often catch the top of one of the rubber intakes, causing it to curl under allowing an intake air leak. Just a few things to look for.

billyboy:
John thanks for the post. I did tightend all the clamps (12). It's like a back fire, just once.
I will look for what you said about the air box. It was desmoged over two years ago and just
started 3 weeks ago.  ???  Thanks again

Make sure your Oring's on intake are good look for a yellow to brown stain. when I pull the add on chrome on my bike found the leaks. If none seen - Spray some brake cleaner or WD40 at the head where the intake mounts to the head and see if you get a RPM change if you do change the 6 Orings out.

Note I like brake cleaner as No  resadew. WD40 , carb cleaner, or starting fluid will work but there is always a chance of flash fire if you do not know what you are doing.
