You said in the other thread that this Yarold guy that caused the crash on Cherohala Skyline gave a up-date on his Facebook page. Did he in fact lose a part of his leg and foot ?

I've seen alot of people that thought they were cool , but then again Lord I've seen alot of fools.

Serk

I think I found his Facebook, and it doesn't appear to be locked down:

https://www.facebook.com/yaroldb

From reading it, it LOOKS like if he lost anything it was minor, since he's reporting he can stand with the aid of a walker (Although painfully)

Never ask a geek 'Why?',just nod your head and slowly back away...

3 people have told me they saw the riders left foot in boot lying on the ground.

His Facebook photo shows a bike like the one that hit.

Hope he has insurance.

Really dislike those that don't. Should serve jail time.

Okay, ya'll know me, I hafta exercise my Google-fu when I can... I think I found a LOT more details about this. Found a group he's on and there's been a lot of posts about it on there.

Group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/182792571765106/

From reading it, it does appear he lost a foot, or at least some toes?

I'll post some quotes from that group in my next post.

Wanted to let everyone know Yarold was in an accident on Cherohalla Skyway yesterday afternoon. He was airlifted to UT Knoxville. He collided with a Valkerie and was injured seriously. He's lost the front half of his left food and the ankle was shattered. He still has his heel and will be able to walk with a prosthetic. He's going into surgery again in the morning to clean up more. His sister and Anita are with him. As more information is available it'll be posted here. He's on a morphine drip so he's in and out, please don't call them because they don't have anymore info than this. More info will be posted here when it is available.

ADDITIONAL NOTE on Yarold::: He has a fracture of the fibula in his right leg but it's at the top so no cast is needed, it'll heal on its own. He'll have a special boot to wear for it. His ankle wasn't shattered, in fact, it's fine. He'll have full movement of it.

Yesterday, Glen, Sandy, Silas and I went to visit Yarold in the hospital in Knoxville. He was in good spirits and lively. He has a tiny little bit of road rash on his knee and a little bit on his stomach. He was wearing kevlar pants, mesh jacket with armor, gloves, boots and a full face helmet. All of his gear did what it was supposed to do and prevented a lot more injury. I don't want to go into detail about what happened to his foot on here but it was a complete fluke with terrible results.

At the accident there were a number of people there in the parking lot. After it happened a doctor that was there put a tourniquet on his leg to stop the bleeding, that's what probably saved his life according to the ambulance EMT. The accident happened behind us and we didn't know until he didn't come down for the turn. We doubled back and found out what had happened. He was stabilized with people talking to him waiting for the ambulance talking, drinking water and smoking off some cigarettes. He knew us when we got there and was asking about the other people in the accident. When the ambulance got there he was in pain when they moved him onto the stretcher. From there he was taken up the road and loaded onto the helo and taken to Knoxville.

There were 2 motorcycles also involved with riders. 3 of them were also taken by helo to UT medical. Didn't get there names so don't know their status. The front driver remained and he suffered a lot of road rash on his arms, torso and face. From witness statements, Yarold went over the double yellow and collided. We don't know if he had washed out and slid over or rolled over.

After helping him fill in the gaps as best we could, it was a lot of joking about his foot. He did have full coverage insurance but he's going to have a long road ahead. He is psyched that he'll probably get pedicures for half price now. Anita and his sister are hoping to get him transferred to Atlanta as soon as possible. Thanks for the all the good thoughts and prayers, hopefully he'll be back in the A soon.

There's tons more, but I think I got the relevant bits above...

Was a ticket issued?  Does one need to be issued for Yarold's insurance to admit fault?  I'm sure someone on this board would know the law in this regard.

Is Tennessee a no fault state?  I hope not!

I don't want to bad mouth this guy, but in looking at his face book page, he sure seems to be into himself, but then again, I guess that is kinda the nature of Facebook.

Having moved from TN to KY which was my introduction to a No Fault state I would say NO for Tn being one.

A ticket would certainly be warranted, but should be unnecessary to assess obvious fault for crossing a double yellow and wiping other riders out.

Any interested party (like Whiskey) should be attempting to get a copy of the complete police report ASAP.  I'd also be very interested in any blood/urine lab report of Yarold that the police are aware of.  It may be privileged medical info at the hospital, but not once it's put in a police report.  Any health or bike insurer for Whiskey or other VRCCers who ends up out of pocket would be entitled to subrogate (stand in the shoes of their insured) claims against Yarold (and/or his insurer), and I would be helping my insurer(s) do so in every way possible.

Accidents involving multiple parties from multiple states can be tricky and take time.

Sorry guys, been busy picking up VRCC UK friends Steve and Glynis.  :) They are here in Atlanta and headed west sometime next week. Hoping to meet some VRCC folks along the way. More on that elsewhere soon.

Yarold was insured, GEICO I was told. Insurance is good.  ;)

He was ticketed - exceeding safe speed and driving left of center.

Yarold's bike, not Yarold on it:

..

I've been looking for Yarold on Killboy.com - Cherohala. Can't find him.

..

More from Facebook

He's lost the front half of his left food and the ankle was shattered. He still has his heel and will be able to walk with a prosthetic.

I'm sorry to see that there's no kinda feelings of remorse for the other riders involved in any of the Facebook postings about Yarold. Karma is a bitch.

He knew us when we got there and was asking about the other people in the accident.

But nothing since?

Not that I've seen on personal or group Facebook pages.
