Talisman tank bib

Bought the Talisman tank bib for my IS. Worried about scratching the fuel tank. I have read to wax the tank once in a while, also read the bib will collect dirt under it and mar the finish. You guys know of anything that will protect the tank?  I thought about using some kind of tape, but don't know. Also , what do you use to protect the tank bib, did not come with any instructions. Some kind of cleaner or protector??  Thank you.

I give a gentle wipe under the edges when using Lemon Pledge on the tank, and haven't noticed any marks after 2 1/2 years. I slather mine with Dubbin or mink oil once a year over winter storage.

I have a black tank with a Talisman bid. 

Mine has been on there for a couple years now too and no problems.  I've had it off the bike a couple times since putting it on and haven't noticed anything. 

Did wax the tank with a good carnauba wax.  Hit the tank every once in a while with a detailer/cleaner.  Usually just lift up the edge of the bid and wipe under it.

Buy some 2" vinyl tape ( I used black) and put that on the tank under the bib.  The tape won't hurt the paint.  You could probably use clear packing tape as well, although the adhesive is stickier.
