Willow

It's official.  We'll be producing a VRCC 2014 calendar.  Late but we're gonna do it.

We need pictures.  I'm looking for pictures of Valkyries with nice scenery in the background.  On or with the Valkyrie I wan no humans, no luggage, and no equipment prominent riding equipment (such as helmets).  I need the pictures to be of high enough density to be printed eleven by eleven inches without getting grainy.  What that usually means is a good quality pic that hasn't been shrunk since the camera took it.

I'd like to have one picture per bike per member.  Please don't send me five pix and ask me to use the one that's best.

Please send them to us at VRCCStaff@gmail.com attached to an email.  Please attach the picture to the email rather than sending a link to where I can find the pic.  It will be especially nice if the email includes text indicating you are giving the VRCC rights to use the picture.

Do me a favor and don't post your picture on the message board right after you sent it to me to use on the calendar.

Send 'em in.  Let's see what you've got.

Willow

I need to keep this within easy sight until we get the appropriate number of pix.

Please note the request for not reduced pictures and for attachment rather than linked.

We're getting a handful of really good pix.  Please send yours and be careful to read that I need one that hasn't been shrunk.  Including your handle in the email will help also.

R J

Okay Gunny, delete all of the ones I sent you of MGM and I'll pick one and send it to ya.

Interesting, R J.  I had picked the same one you picked.   :)

For anyone who hasn't got his pic in yet, please send it in.  I'm looking for fairly high density (picture size at or above 1000 bytes), your handle, and a short note in the email giving the VRCC rights to use the picture.  Send it to VRCCStaff@gmail.com

Doing a photo shoot on Sunday with the bike and a model - but following the rules, I'll take a few of just the bike and submit one on Monday or Tuesday if it's not too late!

ok trying to not sound stupid 1000 bytes = what in megapixles my camera settings are in
PC 1024 X 768
3m 2048 X 1536
5M 2592 X 1944
8M 3624 X 2448
what equals 1000 bytes ?

GeoffreyB

Jess- I will - I need a profile pic - or 20!!

Willow- not to step out of line here, but since I do a lot of photography, I thought I might be able to help with mmurffy03's question.

For a digital picture to be printed 11x11 clearly, it should be taken with a camera with a minimum of a 5 MegaPixel (MP) camera, with best resolution setting and minimal jpg compression (some cameras just have a "best quality- largest file" setting) - and not need to be cropped for composition at all.

For digital pictures taken with an 8 or more MP camera, you should still have used best resolution settings and minimal jpg compression, but this will allow for some cropping headroom.

If you've edited the photo at all, it should have been saved at the original resolution and print settings of 250 DPI or greater, and if you've edited a jpg file, it should only be "re-saved" once.

Hope this helps!

Willow

Geoffrey is quite coorect.

The 1000 byte reference was only given to assist the non-technical in assessing whether his (or her) picture was at a lower reesolution.

Don't drag your feet.  Monday or Tuesday should not be too late, but since we're starting as late in the year as we are, I'll cut us off when I think we have a rreasonable number of submissions from which to select.  Hopefully that will be sooner rather than later.

Willow, I sent a couple pictures for you to consider,

Hey!  How'd this get to be on the second page?

Oh, look.  It's not!   :cooldude:

ValkISDan

I've never seen the Valk calendars, can I see any past ones anywhere? When does the new one arrive?

Thanks

WE don't have them for sale yet and thus haven't settled on or announced a price. The printing and shipping costs will, of course, need to be considered.

That said, last year we were right at $22 each including shipping.

Let me know if you're interested in doing a "dirty" calendar...

Oh crap....Monday or Tuesday cut off?  I'm headed out this coming Saturday to meet up with some of the Fla. bunch for b'fast and a ride afterward. I was looking forward to finding a picturesque spot to take some profile shots. Possibly either on the Gulf at a couple parks I know of, or a typical Fla. forested area with plenty of hanging moss.

But by all means, do what's best for the club and if I'm too late I'll keep the pics and send them in next year.  :cooldude:

Get enough pics yet?

We do, but I'm holding out 'til this weekend just because.   :)

RainMaker

I seem to remember there was a place to add a little extra last year when a calendar was ordered.

Maybe if we did that we could help with the Google adsense issue.

I always thought this was a great shot.  If you want to use it let me know and I'll dig out the original high res copy.

This weekend will mark the final day on which submissions will be considered.

WamegoRob

So submission cutoff is Sunday at midnight CDT then?

It's Sunday.  I usually don't stay up until 24:00 but I'll try to accommodate as well as I can.

John Schmidt

Well, dumb me. I rode over to take some pics of the bike in front of a new Viet Nam Veterans memorial in a nearby park, and left the time/date stamp active. Now it shows up on every picture and I have no way of removing it before submitting a couple for the calendar. Oh well....maybe next year. Pics are kinda nice too, city did a great job with it.  :uglystupid2:

Kinda had a similar idea as John but the painter still has to finish his masterpiece. Searching for answers yet because the clear coat is so dam expensive he wants it perfect the next time he clear coats it. I have to be patient. Maybe muster up a pic. Next year.

I've never participated in this before until now. Will the winners be announced or notified in the near future? I've held off posting the pic I submitted as requested. Inquiring minds want to know.  :coolsmiley:

Of course I'll buy a calendar and throw in some extra. I was just hoping for the sneak preview. Thanks, Carl.
