Camping

Something my wife and I have always loved and started doing more of this year. This weekend we went to Mt. Airy NC and stayed at the Beechnutt CG. It was great weather for camping and riding. We had the cg almost to ourselves. Here's a couple of pics.

It was 49 in the mornings so a lil fire was a must.

I love cool weather camping. Have camped in the dead of winter, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Rode snowmobile from S. St. Marie to Tequminon Falls, and camped 3 nights on the trail. It was fun, and very snowey. I was only 22 and couldn't do that kind of thing anymore. With my back, and arthritis, it would be a bad idea. Looks like you had a good place, and a good time

I like it if I'm prepared for it. It got into the low to mid 40's at sturgis a few years ago. We pack light when we go. Only had 1 sleeping bag we open to make a blanket. Slept with it, a sock cap and a 'tube' over our faces. Kit actually wore clothes to bed to!  We froze. Luckily the camp bartender gave us a big down comforter to use a few nights.

Nice thing about hauling a trailer is that you can pretty much be prepared for anything. Great looking campsite.

gotta love it when there's no one around!!  nice and quiet!  no crying babies, no yelling at 2am, no beer bottles braking on the rocks!  just you and the critters!! 

every (and i do mean every) time we go camping, it rains!!

Fall camping is great, but in the winter I was all alone till the night when I found out I set up 300 ft. from a snowmobile trail.  They run all night, bar hopping.

Or, you get the drunks partying until 3 a.m. or longer like I have had to deal with last time out camping.  I called the campgrounds 2x 30 minutes apart at like 1 a.m. those fellers were drunk and VERY loud fairly close to us keeping us all awake all night long mostly.  I finally called, after campgrounds did not do a darn thing, 911 and got the sheriff involved.   

If the campgrounds say quiet time after 11 pm and do nothing well after midnight, after 2nd call they should have told them to pack up and leave period.  Haven't been back since.

Thanks, previous owner had it and it came with the bike. Made by american legend and still being produced.

When you are going light in the fall or spring, ALWAYS pack a set of long johns (or sweats-underarmor-silks), wool socks, a knit hat, and if you have one, a light balaclava. It doesnt weigh much and will help a 40deg bag feel a lot nicer. The other thing you can carry is one of those cheap fleece 50deg bags, along with a Walmart bag. They dont take up much room and work great for a bag liner if it gets cold. I took a 50deg fleece and a wool blanket for the canoe trip we went on. It was cool, low 40's so the fleece and long johns were enough for all but one night.

I have that same tent NC. I love it.  Sets up in minutes and is nice and roomy. I also motorcycle camp with my son, we both ride! My wife thinks camping is going to the Hampton Inn. It's not her thing, but that's cool. I get some bonding time with my son!

I've had a few tents and this is the best so far. Love the space and head room. Spent 3 day's in the rain with it on one camping trip and no leaks My kids are grown and gone. Camping with their on friends and family. Spend all the time you can with your son, it goes by fast.
