Trip Odometer sometimes Sticks

Like most riders, I zero my trip odometer after each fill-up to have a good idea about how much gas is left in the tank. Last week the trip odometer got to something like 7.8 kilometers and then just stopped turning. When I discovered this I zeroed it and now it seems to be working fine. But this sounds like the kind of problem that won't go away. Is lubrication required? With what and where do I squirt it?

This ia a mechanical problem, most likely. I use a special electrical spray lubricant for these types of problems. Will require some disassembly.

MGM has done that since he was new, 243K miles ago.

What works best on mine and has never stopped since I been doing this at each fill-up.

I roll the numbers around to zero, and then roll them around again.

It has not stuck again after I started the dual roll back.

Give it a try and see if it works for you, BEFORE, ya go squirtin stuff or tearing it apart.

I asked a white coat on the factory tour during InZane 3 & he told me of the double roll back..

RJ has given you the correct answer.  Roll around to Zero.  Roll it around to Zero again.  Problem solved

It also works to just set it to 999.9 instead of zeroes.
Many Hondas have done this since the 70s

Mine's always done that...previous Honda's with the "roll around" also have done this to me.

I just roll mine once, and then just put a little back twist/pressure on the knob...not a turn or anything, just a tap. Problem solved!
