A high-earning Kentucky disability lawyer featured in a 60 Minutes television segment that aired Sunday 10/6/13 subsequently took the Fifth during a U.S. Senate committee hearing.

Eric Conn told the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee that his lawyer had explained in an Oct. 7 letter why he wished to invoke his constitutional right not to testify, WYMT reports. He also declined to discuss his work helping disabled individuals get federal benefits when he spoke briefly with a reporter during the 60 Minutes program.

Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., who is also a physician, spearheaded the committee's two-year probe into claimed Social Security Disability Insurance fraud. He said an investigative report "details how one lawyer, one judge, and a group of doctors financially benefited by working together to manufacture bogus, fraudulent medical evidence to award disability benefits to over 1,800 people."

The report says Conn and a now-retired West Virginia administrative law judge began communicating with each other on disposable, prepaid cellphones after Senate staffers and the Social Security Administration's inspector general opened an investigation, Fox News reports.

Conn is also accused of destroying computer hard drives from his office and contracting, along with the judge, to shred some 13 tons of documents, the station says.

The report says Conn was paid $4.5 million in legal fees by the Social Security Administration between 2006 and 2010.

I have seen it daily for the last 21 years. Go to houses constantly (   )  and  when it comes time to ask them who their employer is.... "oh I'm on SSI".

When I applied for my social security at the SS office in 1992, I expected to see a lot of white haired people applying..  I didn't.  Most were under 50 as near as I could tell.

Hey Joe,
     If you had looked real close to the rear of the building you would have seen his 2011 Rolls-Royce parked there. His law firm states that they are "YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY LAWYER". This has been going on for nearly ten years and just shows that only in eastern Ky. anything is very possible.

If all government agencies/programs worked as they are supposed to or originally designed to and most of the fraud was eliminated and all foreign aid stopped we would really be able to pave our streets with gold.
We have a SS office in our little city and when you walk in all you hear is spanish and ebonics and they certainly are not aged 62. The $2.7 trillion that the politicians have stolen from this program, I want returned. Walk past our welfare office and its worse.
I watched the 60 Minutes thing on this asshat and his cohorts and was surprised at 60 minutes, being as liberal as they usually are. Its nice to see that something may be done about it.
