I can see the line of logic to the author's post....but I'd like to make a small change.

I thought the stats show almost as many bikers killed by running off the road as cars turning left in front of them.

I'll check back into it as it was years ago and my memory isn't what it used to be.

With every mode of transportation, there is a down side. Buses, airplanes, trucks, etc.... being still very new to the motorcycle world, I find that with the coarses I took, I have become a better driver for that reason.

funny you should mention that, when I was a letter carrier they laid out the routes so the left turns were at a minimium. for that very reason, it's safer....supposedly

Safety fanatics have a neurosis, and should be heavily medicated until their fanaticism is brought under control.  Electroshock therapy should not be ruled out.

This very article was discussed at the "Meeting of the Minds". The AMA, MRF, and ABATE our/have been warning riders of this very issue for some time now.
