I wanted to let you know that earlier today I received my  "Obamacare enrollment packet" from the White House.




It contained: 




· An aspirin and a band-aid.
· An 'Obama Hope & Change' bumper sticker
· A 'Bush's Fault' yard sign
· A 'Blame Republicans first, then anybody and everybody'  poster
· A 'Tax the Rich' banner
· An application for unemployment and a free cellphone
· An application for food stamps
· A prayer rug
· A letter assigning my debt to my grandchildren
· And lastly, a coupon for a machine that blows smoke up my ass.




Everything was made in "China" and all directions were in Spanish.

my wife has worked at the same hospital for the last 20 years.  now, thanks to the increased costs  the hospital is expecting from obummer care some of the branches have decided to outsource her position, if it catches on i'm expecting my wife to be out of a job by next year. 

once again, our government is this countries worst enemy.

I think we are just starting to see its ill effects.
I said here awhile back that our liberal friends [ voted twice for obama] son lost his job in the medical manufacturing business due to ACA taxes. They denied that reason until recently.
Our liberal neighbor friends that voted for him both times, the wife has been an RN and head nurse at our local hospital for over 30 years. She just got her $80K/yr job cut back to 29 hours/week along with 200+ more employees of that hospital. They don't have too much to say, yet. The husband is the big labor union official and was always talking about how great obama and ACA was, he is pretty quiet now that the union stance on this has changed.
I have not yet seen or heard anything official, but, the rumor is that our supplemental medical ins. is going up considerably. Time will tell.

Some time ago I was posting the effects of the ACA (Obamacare) on the hospitals I work for mentioning the layoffs and such and other problems.

I so wish I could remember the fellow making counter points to my comments saying his sister was a nurse and she didn't hear nothing! Working in administration and listening to the lawyers and consultants we enlisted preparing for the impact of the new law I was a little but-hurt that this guy had a nurse as a sister and that fact dismissed my qualifications to the points I made.

What I do notice is all those who were defending Obamacare have seemed to vaporize, no longer posting in the defense of the law.

It is a horrible law and now if you follow the news all outlets no matter their political bent are having to report on the flaws on the law.

If the law doesn't go down in flames we are all have a front row seat to witness the demise of healthcare in the U.S.

It is funny that the only people who really believe the Republican talking points are the Republicans.  I am sure you pulled you "million people' out of your republican manifesto, but saying it over and over again on every forum they paid you to blog about, still doesn't make it true.

The one crucial aspect that you and those on your side fail to grasp is the difference between affordable health care and health insurance.  Obummer care doen't do diddly squat to provide the former, and is responsible for millions of people losing the later. 

I think the best thing the country could do is get rid of the medical insurance companies altogether, they are merely a cost burden and unnecessary cost to health care.  They do nothing to provide health care, in fact, they restrict it.

Let the patient and their doctor determine what care you need.  Let the government and the insurance providers go pound sand up their bottoms.

the problem with obummer care is that there was never any "Plan" to make it work.  there was only desire to force the law into the books and onto the American people.  even today there doesn't seem to be any good way to get the whole thing to work.  it seems that the only answer the democrats have is to through money at it, that if you put trillions in, somehow it'll work.  much like the auto buy back, the appliance buy back, high speed rail. trillions to the banks, giving two of the three auto builders tons of money, waist Waist WAIST!! 

the way to fix a problem, to resolve an issue isn't to just react, it is to plan, research, then design before you build.  this yahoo believes "build it, and they will come!"  this isn't the field of dreams, this is an issue that has cheaper more affordable answers that can not be shoved into a "cookie cutter" mold.

Skinhead, you have gotten right down to the heart of the problem. Health care and health insurance are two related, but completely different products, and don't exist for the benefit of the other. Health insurance itself doesn't even nominally exist for our benefit but only to serve the insurance industry. Insurance companies are indeed a cost burden but keeping costs high and benefits low helps to insure the only thing they really do insure-a healthy bottom line. The insurance mandate (which is, after all, what the hated Heritage Foundation Proposal cum ObamaCare really is) exists outside of any notion of quality healthcare.

Humans are not only imperfect, we are complex creatures, and possibly the only animals who deny the inevitability of aging, disability, and eventually death (what truly sets us apart from the rest of animals-well, that and opposable thumbs). To serve that denial requires that we pour vast sums of money into the healthcare industry-a monolith that covers a vast amount of real estate in health and beauty aids, drugs, technology, surgical advances, etc. It's not just insurance and government but I think that is the start of it.

But the end of it is that as long as we are willing to pour vast amounts of money to feed that denial there will be someone on the other end who is more than willing to take it. What suffers in this whole equation is quality wellness and healthcare that is truly affordable for all of us.

There were/are ways to change health insurance to become far more affordable, but, our politicians that made laws to make it unaffordable would not undo what they did. One such way was to allow one to shop across state borders, our politicians won't allow it due to lobbyists. It was presented to the senate and they would not consider it.
ACA is nothing more than a way to a single payer system.

This burns my butt because of this kind of ignorance.  You hear something horrific (totally untrue) and then use it as a mantra to point fingers at the other guy to brand them as demons.

If you fall between a certain income level, you are available to free healthcare....Medicaid.
If you are at a level of income above this level, but are not offered insurance through work, you can go to any Medicaid office and be placed on Medicaid.......on a sliding scale.  You pay based on your income.  This "program" is also available to "documented" aliens. 

I know this to be fact because I know of friends and relatives who have used this system in the past.  A past girlfriend's brother was a comedian, yes, that was his "job".  He made nothing, but suffered from colitis.  He needed regular check-ups and regular meds.  All were provided at a decreased cost, based on his income.  My wife is from Jamaica and we have relatives visit regularly.  Several have signed up for this program at the hospital clinic where my wife works.  As long as they are here legally, they can receive healthcare based on their income (they have to provide the appropriate documents) and length of stay.

So those 30,000,000 uninsured really never existed, or they did so because they weren't aware or didn't care, but NOT because it isn't available.

And half the country eats it all up.
