Of course you don't have to answer this, but answer it for yourself:  As a democrat blackrams, did you vote for President Obama in 2012?  Did you vote Democrat for your Senator and Representative?  Do you intend to vote for Hillary or one of her Democratic rivals?  If you don't agree with the democratic party, and you don't vote for democrats, you aren't really a democrat are you?  Just like there are RINOs there are DINOs.

Daddie O,
You're correct, I don't have to respond but, I will say this, there are extremist within every party.  Who I voted for is my business just like who you voted for is yours.    Who I intend to vote for falls into the same category.   This I will say, I voted for who I thought was the best candidate as I will do in the next election.   I am sadden by the fact that we have such poor candidates as I felt we had in several elections.   Voting a "straight ticket" is not what I'm about.   I'm more about putting leadership in office that reflect my values as I am sure you also are interested in doing.   The difference appears to be, I expect myself and others to pull their own weight and not jump on the free ride wagon.   Those pulling the wagon are being overburdened by the free loaders.   This is not something I expect you to agree with based on what I have read written by you.

My values do not include buying votes with enhanced entitlements, cell phones or Robin Hood tactics of stealing from those who have to give to those who won't earn for themselves.   I'll admit to not being a hard core dem as you "appear" to be but chose to stay with the Democrat Party hoping to change the party from within because it very obvious it won't change from pressure that's applied from outside.   I don't want to saddle our children, grand-children and following generations with debt we incur.   It's time to pay the piper, our "leadership" is a miserable failure.  I am not just limiting that to President Obama.

You sir are a Democrat I can agree with.  I wish there were more like you, maybe we wouldn't be in this current mess, and could focus our energy on improving our government and solving societal problems,  instead of quarreling, name calling, and finger pointing.  The first step is to elect some leaders with some integrity and backbone.

I'm sure you are all quite proud of the fact that under the Obama administration the annual deficit has fallen from the 1.4 Trillion/yr under Bush down to 1.3 Trillion, then down to 1.1 Trillion, and now at 680 Billion.  Nearly 700 Billion a year less than when he took over!  To top it off it is still falling and expected to be lower next year!

I'm sure you will join me in celebrating the fiscal responsibility of the Obama administration.  No doubt this fiscal responsibility has earned blackrams vote since he is mainly concerned with the debt.  Are we at a balanced budget yet?  No.  Has the annual deficit been cut in half? Yes.  Let me guess, the 1.4 Trillion/yr deficit left to the Obama administration by the Bush administration after 8 years is Clinton's fault right?  The yearly reduction in our annual deficit has happened despite Obama instead of because of him right?

You don't notice the pattern of ballooning debt under Republican administrations (Reagan, Bush Sr, Bush Jr) and the drastic reduction of annual deficits under Democratic administrations (Clinton, Obama)?  Republicans borrow and spend, borrow and spend.  Democrats reduce spending and increase government revenue.  Of course they have had to borrow to pay Republican debts, but eventually they balance the books and run a surplus.  The Republicans have the nerve to borrow money, not only refuse to increase revenue to repay the borrowing, but even threaten to not pay back what they borrowed!!

Wow.  What reasoning.  The reason the deficit is dropping is because of the sequester.  THAT cut spending.

Obama and the Democrats fought sequester going into effect tooth and nail, and are still trying to get rid of it.

Now that that has reduced spending, you and he are taking credit for it!

Typical.

No doubt this fiscal responsibility has earned blackrams vote since he is mainly concerned with the debt.  Are we at a balanced budget yet?  No.  Has the annual deficit been cut in half? Yes.

Surely you jest.    As I replied to you in a previous thread, I won't argue the numbers, not because I agree but, because the truth is impossible to find.   You can pull numbers or I can pull numbers from all kinds of sources to support one side or another.   There is no doubt in my mind the Sequester has had a major effect on where our bank account stands now but, what numbers to trust?   Probably none of them.

What I do believe (started to say know but, that would not be factual) is that this administration has done more to buy votes than any other administration in my life.   They have increased "entitlements" to previously unseen levels and have used every trick in the book to increase taxes and their Robin Hood tactics.   Please enlighten me on how all those entitlements are decreasing the national debt.    If those entitlements involved earning the entitlement, then I could lean toward supporting some of them but, I'm tired of the give away programs.   While I do support some or many of the planks in the Democratic platform, they really need to quit buying votes with "special" entitlement bribes and protect the entire national interest.   I realize you (apparently) learned fiscal accountability in a California school system but, I'd think the current state of fiscal affairs in CA would show you the fallacy of such a lack of fiscal accountability.

I fully support a balanced Congress and Senate, I don't want the Dems or Repubs to have a super majority.   Obama's first term with Pelowsi and Reed leading their charge was very damaging to this nation.   Hopefully, some day you'll realize that.   Kentucky is primarily a Democrat dominated state, I have met Senator McConnell on several occasions, I personally don't care for the man or his tactics but, who I vote for will be the lesser of evils.   I don't expect the Dems to offer a valid candidate either.

blackrams, I get my figures on the yearly deficit from the Dept. of the Treasury.  The sequestration (which both parties agreed to or it wouldn't even exist), was meant to be a negative that impels both sides to negotiate together.  The sequestration is 85.4 Billion in reduced spending total.  The deficit has been reduced by 700 Billion.  The annual deficit has been reduced by over 600 Billion dollars NOT including the sequestration.  What say you now?

The Republicans have the nerve to borrow money, not only refuse to increase revenue to repay the borrowing, but even threaten to not pay back what they borrowed!!

mentioning fiscal responcibility and Obama in the same sentence will get you great laughs. you should try your hand at being a comedian. that or maybe rewritting history. bush's biggest deficit year was his last at 400 billion, way too much, but don't let that stop you from trying to tell us differently :2funny:

dems tax and spend tax and spend. hmmm seeing a correlation?

what else happpened under the clinton administration? remember the mid terms? remember the first repub house in 40 years took over? remember the end of welfare as we know it? remember the triangulation that clinton did?

we remember things differently ;)

Small correction - The sequester is NOT cutting spending. The sequester is reducing the size of increase in spending. Only in the bizarro world of DC could a reduction in an increase be considered a cut...

I'd say we have gotten off track as usual, but, lets see,
Clinton left us with a $5.8 trillion debt after his 8 years
Bush added $4.9 trillion in another 8 years with the war
obama in 4 years increased that total to $17 trillion

Yep, obama is doing a great job at reducing the debt.

But this would make perfect sense coming from someone in a state that is $618 billion in debt.

Let me help you with simple math.  Clinton was left a huge deficit by Reagan and Bush administrations.  Those Republicans are absolutely addicted to borrowing money.  Like crackheads with credit cards, they just can't get enough.  Clinton got the budget balanced, and actually got it so that we were taking in more money than we were spending!  Imagine that!  Having extra income to pay down the debt!  That doesn't mean all the debt was paid off by any stretch, but we werent spending more than we were taking in and we were starting to pay the debt down.  So by the time Bush Jr took over, there was still 5.8 Trillion in left over Republican debt to pay off.  Damn those Republicans sure know how to borrow!  So then comes Bush Jr.  like his father and his fathers boss before him, he had the jones to borrow borrow borrow, and not only that but spend far more than he is borrowing!  Why is it that Republicans just don't know how to spend within their means?  It's such a simple concept!  So Bush Jr borrows trillions and trillions more.  Nary a peep from the Republicans, since they absolutely adore borrowing and spending.  Absolutely drunk on power they cannot help themselves.  Borrow borrow borrow spend spend spend spend.  Does the Tea Party say wait a minute, we shouldn't spend more than we take in?  We don't want to saddle our kids with our debt.  No, they do not.  Republicans are perfectly fine with borrowing as much as possible.

Then comes President Obama.  By your calculations Patrick there is already 10.7 Trillion dollars in deficit, and a 1.4 Trillion dollar annual deficit.  Do the math.  Add 1.4 Trillion X 4 years to the 10.7 Trillion and what do you get.  Is it 17 Trillion?  Amazing how that happened huh.  Could the democrats get the Republicans to agree to $1 of extra taxes for every $9 of spending cuts?  No, they couldn't.  So Obama had to do it with mostly spending cuts on his own.  He has gotten the 1.4 Trillion dollar a year deficit that you were all peachy with under Bush Jr down to 680 Billion.

Another Democratic President working towards a balanced budget.  Deficit spending goes down dramatically (cut in half already!).  Let me guess, you would prefer another borrow and spend more than you take in Republican in the White House.  You adore Reagan and Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. because you think the best course of action is borrow borrow borrow borrow, spend spend spend spend.  You can't get over the urge to have the government spend more than they take in.  You love to see our deficit spiral out of control like it has under the past 3 Republican Presidents.  You just can't stand the fact that Democrats know how to reduce deficit spending until we have a surplus.

As far as California goes, we have a Democratic Governor.  This is why we finally have a balanced budget!  No more Governator!  Democrats prefer to spend within our means instead of borrow borrow borrow.  By the way, California pays $314 Billion dollars a year in taxes to the federal government.  California gets back only 78 cents on the dollar back from the fed.  Imagine if California got back 85 cents!  What a huge surplus we would have!  California is paying for the red states that can't pay their own way, and then people from those states have the nerve to point at California and say look at the bill you are running up!

Spoken like a true liberal, keep those rose colored glasses on.

The only reason Clinton signed a balanced budget amendment was because he had to. The republicans passed the act and Clinton knew they had the votes to override his veto. He's a good politician and knew he had to move to the middle because of his upcoming attempt at reelection, so he signed it. Just because there was a balanced budget for a couple years means nothing regarding the national debt, it just wasn't added to by the democrats for those years.
As for the reduction in spending, its been explained. It ain't a reduction by republican or any other normal thinking.
Your previous state leader was as liberal as they come, he was no republican, only a RINO. He was really a Kennedy. Look into who he was married to.

Second time you wrote this.  So, California is in debt because it has to pay for states that get more than they give.

What does this sound like????????

Sounds like a bad economic strategy to me, yet this is the goal of Obama, the man himself.  Stand with him and fundamentally change the country to a redistrubitive entity.  Those that have and earn will support those that don't, until those that have go into debt to the tune of 17 trillion.

And this is what you support.    :uglystupid2:

This is what you defend.     :uglystupid2:

My allegiance is to no party or man, and if another administration stated this as their goal I would be just as furious.  You can give all the "lessons" you want, write long diatribes about nothing, but you still can't demonstrate how this is RIGHT.

G-Man

Those that receive more than they give do not care about the debt placed on those that pay.  At least it's not them paying, right?  The only time those receiving more that they give will care about the debt of the rest, is when it becomes too much to carry and their receiving abruptly stops.  You can look at every socialistic society and see that this is the case.  It always crashes.

I know, these guys will do it better because they read more books about it.

This administration has proven time and again that gov't doesn't have the best people in the appropriate positions.  Everything it does is riddled with scams, proven to be lies, too expensive, costs more than anticipated, has a bumpy rollout, needs to fixed over time.  Funny how this doesn't happen in the private sector.  Apple update the operating system on millions of cell phones around the world without a hitch.  And it didn't cost them billions.  Yet you keep defending?

I can give you a list of Bush accomplishments, probably longer than your list of Obamas, but I would never get on board with anything that I felt was detrimental to the country as you would, as you have demonstrated.  I would say that I hope you get what you are hoping for, but that would mean terrible things for my fellow countrymen.

That is my point skinhead.  That NO TEA PARTY popped up to oppose the rampant overspending of the Bush administration.  So the TEA PARTY is obviously not about fiscal responsibility.  The TEA PARTY arose in response to a black man being president.  If they were concerned about fiscal responsibility they would have been a TEA PARTY that was opposed to out of control spending.  If they were about protecting the Constitution, they would have risen up as a TEA PARTY to oppose the suspension of Habeas Corpus, The Patriot Act, and the NSA snooping on our calls.  Did they?  No they didn't.  The Koch Brothers weren't financing them for that.

I find it an interesting paradox that the Republican Party claims to be interested in fiscal responsibility, and state's rights, and keeping the government small and out of peoples business, yet they borrow unprecedented amounts of money to expand government, and oppose the rights of states to legalize gay marriage.  They want the government involved in who we sleep with, who we marry, and what we do with our own bodies.  Doesn't really jibe with their claims does it?  Bush added 6 trillion in debt.  Do you think he was trying to destroy our country?  If not, then why do you think Obama is with his added 6 trillion?  Why do you not applaud the annual deficit being cut in half?  What if we don't even have an annual deficit by the time Obama is out of office, would you still be opposed to his fiscal policies?

The Tea Party could care less about curtailing spending.  Really, they could give a rats ass about it.  Proof positive is the Tea Party didn't exist when Bush ran up 6 Trillion in debt, and left with a 1.4 trillion annual deficit.  They wish he was still in office, they think his spending prowess was amazing.  If they were concerned about spending they would be running ads in every state proclaiming the greatness of Obama in literally halving spending already.

Yes the Tea Party are racists.  From their signs that make Obama look like a monkey and tell him to go back to Africa, or call him a Halfrican, to the effigies of him eating watermelon, to their questioning his birth certificate, it is a party based purely on racism and nothing else.

In our universe, and it must be noted that time travel is yet beyond human capability, the Tea Party came into existence in 2004. http://www.teaparty.org/about-us/  The Tea Party has railed, from the start, against runaway spending and debt. At the time, in this particular universe, George W. Bush was the President of the United States.

Now, of course, this is in our universe and supported by logic and facts. Other universes apparently may vary.
