I was seriously disappointed with the Ignacio Bike Week this year.

They pulled all the vendors from the streets as well as the beer tent and stage and put it all in the rally grounds. Then they doubled the prices for the vendors and charged everyone $15 a person to go in. Once there maybe 30 vendors, $8/12 oz beer, $16 for a pulled pork sammie and a lemonade. The bands were pretty good.

Very few people walking around in the rally grounds. Many people when told of the entrance fee just turned around and left. Those I talked to said they could have a better time on Main in Durango for no cover charge. Most also said they'd not be back next year.

Maybe if they charged say, $5 for parking and $5 to get into the music tent?
I dunno, seems like they're trying to kill the thing.

So. Didja go? What was your experience?

No I wasn't there but sounds to me like they were tryin harder than hell to squeeze every nickel they could out of the folks that did pay the entry fee. 4 corners will not be the first thing nor the last thing killed by commercial over interest. RIDE SAFE.

ya know ?

the other day i went into a cafe here in town, looked at the menu and wow ! prices almost double the last visit.

i asked the owner what gives? he told me that he had lost about half his business since the economy went south, so he had to double up on prices to stay in business.

let me see if i understand this, said I, you lose 50% of your business due to a poor economy, and run the other half off with high prices.

you must have a degree in business.

Saturday night summertime is crusiin' night for the locals.  Neat old rides.
Forget the madness of the rally; check it out when it's nice and quiet 'way before the dorks arrive. :uglystupid2:

Micky Ds here has gone up some what more than the locals did. Ate breakfast in West Plains Mo. yesterday had 3 eggs little smokies raw onions wheat toast and coffee and it was $6.85 out the door-just about what that meal has been the last 3 years. The only prices actually going down is the gasoline. Course-don't have no frikkin idea how long THAT'S gonna last.  :2funny: RIDE SAFE.
