no its not a valk but in 1970 it felt like one to me its a 1970 RUPP scrambler with a 3.5 hp engine but we cant have such a whimpy engine for my nephews first bike and I just cant leave things alone so I already ordered a 5.0 hp OEM NOS motor off ebay to swap out

Caught a basketball under the solid foot peg on a 5 horse doing 40 mph. They said I was up as high as the tree tops. When I hit the ground I did endoes for three driveways, never got off the bike. 16 years old and wearing tennis shoes, shorts, tank top, no helmet. Not only did I get up and walk away but I drug the mini bike a half mile home. It looked like a balled up piece of paper even the sprocket that is tight against the rear wheel was bent.  It was fun being young and stupid.

I had one just like it back then. Brought back some nice memories. Put a valk engine in it.

You can over ride the governor spring easily on those machines with one hand under the seat reaching back to the carb.  It turns a 20mph machine into upper 30mph machine as you wind that little motor up with one hand on the handle bars and the other on the engine.  Watch for it.  Those are the riders that will go through the speed craze at some early point in their riding tribulations.

If they learn to ride when they are that young they will be very good older riders.  Apparently if they transition to dirt bikes for a time they are statistically less likely to have an accident when they transition to street machines (Hurt Report, 1979).

Micky Rupp was a friend of the family.. he was very innovative. was ahead of the curve with mini bikes go carts and snowmobiles.. in 1964 he finished 12th in the Indy 500 as a privateer.. he built a snowmobile with a 428 cobra jet engine and took it to Bonneville.. I bought his 130 mph ski drag boat with a 630 hp. L-88 built by Loui Unser when I was 17.. not sure HOW I lived thru those days.. CONGRATS on the purchase
