Seems fitting that veteran's day is a day after the marine corp's birthday also

Thank you Vets, as well as the WAVES and WASPS who flew planes and went unrecognized and those
who went behind enemy lines with nothing to mark them as soldiers (the old O.S.S and British Secret Service

We would not be here without you.

Thank you does not seem enough

To all my brothers and sisters who put on a Uniform of the Armed Services of the United States of America-THANK YOU. I would like there to be a way I could thank those brothers and sisters who over the years of our Country have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep us free. TRYING very hard to live up to the ideals that made this Country of Ours is a small start in the proper direction. Again-thanks to all who answered the call when you/we were needed most.
Today is the tommorow you worried about yesterday. If at first you don't succeed screw it-save it for nite check.  1964  1968 U S Navy. Two cruises off Nam.

While I don't always agree with the things that our Military gets sent to get involved with.
I do appreciate our fellow Americans who risked their lives in the line of duty for us! Thanks for your service and allowing us to continue living the same way in this great country of ours :P

THANK YOU TO ALL THE SISTERS AND BROTHERS PAST AND PRESENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you served , you are to be thanked. Not every one is in combat , but there is a tremendous amount of support that is not seen. Thanks to all the medics. They saved many, many lives.

Some couldn't serve , some wouldn't serve. I have met both. We all have lost family and friends in the military. Merchant Marines is another forgotten branch.

You are right, those poor guys were pretty much out there defenseless and everybody forgets about them.

thanks, we didn't get that in 70 when we came home. but, no matter, as long as the kids that took our place get recognized. war is a terrible thing, it takes our best and brightest, and youngest.

its why we do the patriot guard. you can serve there even if you didn't serve in the military.

I fought in the battles for the beer tents  :2funny: Germany 1986-89  as a MP it was rough duty but someone had to save the Germans from all that beer and those hairy women. I have the deepest respect for anyone who was willing to put their lives on the line for their country and still serve them today as a Police Officer for the Veterans Administration and as a Patriot Gaurd. Thank You to all men and women for your service.

In the UK we call it Armistice Day. The Armistice was signed between the Germans and the Allied Forces on the 11th November 1918 at 11am. Every year the whole of the UK will come to a stop and have two minutes silence at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

A story that put a tear in my eye happened yesterday. Harold Jellicoe Percival was a member of the famous "Dambusters" ground crew who died last month aged 99. He never married and had no close relatives or friends. The funeral directors put an advert in the local newspaper asking for and Servicemen to attend his funeral.
As a mark of respect, the funeral directors had planned his service to be held at 11am on the 11th of November.

Over 700 people attended from all over the UK.

Pit Bull that story brought a tear to my eye. It never ceases to amaze me the regard that is given to even the simplest soldier or mechanic in such a situation. Self sacrifices do have their rewards even if they take a lifetime to come to fruition.

i have always felt there should be a medal for moms and wives who lost sleep worrying about us. when i came home on leave once, i had been out on a date and didn't come in till the wee hours, there sat my mom waiting for me, i asked her why she was up, she had no answer except she was worried about me. i asked her if she had been awake ever since i joined the military ??
