Anyone have their own "personal anthem' in their misspent youth?

The problem with Socialists is they eventually run out of other people's money to spend!

Some people are too stupid to realize how ignorant they are.

If I'm gonna be honest, this was really my anthem through my youth... I still agree with SOME of the sentiments in this song, but not quite all...

This one was very near and dear to me as a teenager. Still is.

Peace Sells - Megadeth (Lyrics Included)

What do you mean, I dont believe in god?
I talk to him every day.
What do you mean, I dont support your system?
I go to court when I have to.
What do you mean, I cant get to work on time?
I got nothing better to do
And, what do you mean, I dont pay my bills?
Why do you think Im broke? huh?

If theres a new way,
Ill be the first in line.
But, it better work this time.

What do you mean, I hurt your feelings?
I didnt know you had any feelings.
What do you mean, I aint kind?
Im just not your kind.
What do you mean, I couldnt be president, of the united states of america?
Tell me something, its still we the people, right?

If theres a new way,
Ill be the first in line.
But, it better work this time.

Can you put a price on peace?

Peace,
Peace sells...,
Peace,
Peace sells...,
Peace sells...,but whos buying?
Boxer rebellion, the Holy Child. They all pay their rent.
But none together can testify to the rhythm of a road well bent.
Saddles and zip codes, passports and gates, the Jones' keep.
In August the water is trickling, in April it's furious deep.

And This One..........

Family Tradition

Now that I look at them together, I think that I understand why the 80's are a little blurred.

I lurve me some Bruce. Thanks.

First time I saw him was at Wembley Arena on the "Born to Run" tour. My mate Johhny and I played the LP so many times you could see air thru it. That air being very pungent.

Drove down to London with Johnny and 3 girls crammed in the back seat of my Ford Orion. Stopped to get gas and a car wash on the way. Car wash malfunctioned as we were half way through and kept adding cubic yards of soapy bubles to the front half of the car.

Had to back out and continue on down the motorway with an EPA hazard of bubbles filling the air behind us.

Was drawn to the more cerebral songs as "anthems" in my early 20's. Listened to a lot of different stuff (from classic rock to gangster rap), but this song really hit me.

John Mellencamp - Minutes to Memories

On a Greyhound thirty miles beyond Jamestown
He saw the sun set on the Tennessee line
He looked at the young man who was riding beside him
He said I'm old kind of worn out inside
I worked my whole life in the steel mills near Gary
And my father before me I helped build this land
Now I'm seventy-seven and with God as my witness
I earned every dollar that passed through my hands
My family and friends are the best thing I've known
Through the eye of the needle I'll carry them home

CHORUS
Days turn to minutes
And minutes to memories
Life sweeps away the dreams
That we have planned
You are young and you are the future
So suck it up and tough it out
And be the best you can

The rain hit the old dog in the twilight's last gleaming
He said Son it sounds like rattling old bones
This highway is long but I know some that are longer
By sunup tomorrow I guess I'll be home
Through the hills of Kentucky 'cross the Ohio river
The old man kept talking 'bout his life and his times
He fell asleep with his head against the window
He said an honest man's pillow is his peace of mind
This world offers riches and riches will grow wings
I don't take stock in those uncertain things

CHORUS

The old man had a vision but it was hard for me to follow
I do things my way and I pay a high price
When I think back on the old man and the bus ride
Now that I'm older I can see he was right

Another hot one out on highway eleven
This is my life It's what I've chosen to do
There are no free rides No one said it'd be easy
The old man told me this my son i'm telling it to you
