Well that got me going first thing this morning. That guy is a utter moron and talking about slavery like we are not slaves to the debt that the government has been allowed to accumulate. To the policies that are allowed to continue. The principles of this country were based on the idea we are free men. With this debt, spending, taxes, not on a gold standard we are in slavery a##. When they can send our boys into a battle that is not a war and they get killed what the hell do you call it. While the pres tramples all over the constitution and we have our rights taken away. While we have US troops on US soil I would really like to know what you call it. NSA anyone?

Remember, no wanted to institute a War Tax to pay for Afghanistan and Iraq.  So, those wars were basically fought "on credit" and there is a large portion of the debt we are enslaved to, as you put it.

agreed, in case anyone wants to go to war in the future, they need to fund it first.

however our debt is becoming an all encompassing monster that politicians campaign against and then conitinue to increase.

I'm not sure that I would want to understand someone who would advocate shitting down someone's throat and pissing in someone's eyes simply because they hold a different view than you.

Somehow, I just don't think that Bashir's view is all that uncommon among liberals.  There is no end to their hatred, nor any road too low that they won't go down.

From the linked web site

Government has become a paramecium, an amoeba whose prime directive is to grow and consume and multiply without knowledge of what it is supposed to be doing other than expanding.

Locally in metro Atlanta there are numerous new "cities" or soon to be new cities and clamorings for new counties.

When I point out to supporters of these new enclaves that they are multipying govt over and over they get a puzzled attitude.

Even when I list all the duplications from Mayor down they still cling to the basic premise that the new form of local govt will be better than the one they are divorcing from and of coures there wont be any long term extra expenditure.

I tell them that when a new "city" is formed the municipality they are divorcing from doesn't reduce any of their govt staff. Thereby creating a new layer of govt all to be funded by taxpayers.

It's sad that the political discourse in this country has come to this.  Wishing for hurtful things on people because you don't agree with them is just sorry.

All sides of the political spectrum do this and it bothers me.  I'm a libertarian but I have friends of almost every political stripe.  When did it become OK to hate and demonize those with whom you don't agree.  Politics should be about debate and compromise not vitriol.

Ronald Reagan and Tip O'Neill couldn't agree on much but they were friends "after 6pm".

Vile and disgusting is pretty common these days.  It's hard to get too worked up about it anymore.  There's nothing especially politically relevant about either Palin's or Bashir's comment.  I would never look to either one for spiritual advice on any matter of consequence.  Don't let the media rile you up too much.  (Although, that's what they are shooting for.)

They are much like Hollywood, aiming for box office returns.  King Kong was a great movie, but I never looked out my window for giant gorillas after I watched it.

It seems we're losing common ground pretty quickly these days.Mr. Hanson's article explains where some of that ground is going.Seems more and more like there isn't going to be any reconciliation and there are people on both sides willing to let it all burn. This is no longer the country I knew once.

Bashir should not only be fired over this but blacklisted though out the journalism industry.

The lack of condemnation from the left side of the political spectrum is shameful.

I guarantee if Sarah Palin said the same about Obama the right side of the political spectrum would become unglued, send her into exile and Palin would never be seen again.
