Which is why it's impossible to really know with certainty what the numbers are like. Maybe this is primarily black-on-white, but I do not take it as fact based on a few news reports.

The Chicago black-on-black murder rate is not a daily news "thing" but it's hardly obscure. Ironically that's the one black people SHOULD be making noise about. Clean your own house, right? You're bitching about Trayvon Martin while you die by the hundreds at each other's hands. And yet, little is said.

Geee wiz. Of course its a societal problem. Racism, discrimination,etc. are societal problems. You can say what you like, you're right, to you, but, not to me or others. What I'm getting from this topic, distilling out the noise, is that anytime I am walking alone and not in a group and there are groups of male young men (teens and early 20s) nearby, I need to keep my guard up, my ears open and my senses on full alert.  I should also watch to see if such attacks are imminent upon others who are not being as observant.

I wonder if making sure to acknowledge these individuals, looking directly at them as you pass so that they know you have seen them, would help to reduce their incentive to launch the attack?  It would seem that anonymity is something they would try to maintain so that they would not be identified by their victims.

We here, in the Milwaukee area, just had a 'Polar Bear Hunting' incident...  2 in the afternoon, 11/21, at a major busy intersection...  Four young black males attacked a lone 60 something white male...  He is in the hospital, they are roaming free...  The Police are not calling it 'knock Out' or 'PBH', because they have no suspects...  A local talk show host had the story last evening, along with the incident report, from a unnamed contact within the PD...  There have been other incidents/attacks in the past few months, but nothing hits the news (or is reported as 'PBH'), because there is no ID on the attackers...  Just some poor guy with his head throbbing in the hospital 

Like Rainmaker said...  Be aware of everything.  We keep our head on a swivel while riding, may as well continue the practice while walking...

These posts turning into train wrecks are NOT unique to this board. I look at sport postings or every day news and somewhere bout 3 to 5 letters in it get's derogatory-quickly and progresses down hill rapidly from there. BUT I do enjoy the diversity we have here. RIDE SAFE.

I would hope people could please go back and read through my posts. I tried very hard to keep it from degrading like this. Where even I will start pulling the gloves off is when people start putting words in my mouth or flat-out not paying attention to what I'm saying and only hear what they want to hear.

Note also that I never made any claims about the race of the majority of the perpetrators. I wouldn't do that because just like everyone else here, I don't really know the answer to that queston. I might think I do, but I really don't. The difference is only that I am willing to admit it. The last thing I wanted was for it to degenerate into a "them damn negroes" thread which is pretty much where Sparky the Typing Troglodyte took it almost immediately, going so far as to blame the blacks even when white people do it. Really Sparky, are we not responsible for ANYTHING we do? Is everything the fault of the big, bad scary negro?

This is a sad situation. Kids of all races are growing up with no appreciation for life. Not the lives of others or their own.
