I like him.

I'd boycott the NFL, but I've always found (American) football rather boring and a waste of time anyway, so that'd be like saying I'm boycotting Harley or something...

Daniel Defense had no intention of spending a million dollars on a Super Bowl ad. They're a relative small company and that's probably several years worth of advertising budget right there. This was submitted knowing it would be rejected and create free advertising through controversy. It's working. Good for them, brilliant marketing.
Boxer rebellion, the Holy Child. They all pay their rent.
But none together can testify to the rhythm of a road well bent.
Saddles and zip codes, passports and gates, the Jones' keep.
In August the water is trickling, in April it's furious deep.

Thought about what you said and you may be right but the exposure to good thinking is awesome. Maybe just maybe a few lights will go on.

Like I said, it's brilliant marketing. I can't help but be a little put-off by disingenuousness though. It's in my nature.

DD doesn't need it either. They make great products.

It is upsetting to me that the NFL would ban ads for not only a legal product, but one constitutionally guaranteed.  Ad shows a fine young family, and a man wants to protect them.  How Terrible! (sarcasm font).

The ad does not even show a gun.  Very low key.  Just a drawing of  a gun as the co's logo at the end.

Yet, we can have simulated sex on stage at half time, with the NFL's encouragement.  Yeah, lets turn all our young girls into HO's, yet a man protecting his family is taboo!

Once again, PC run amuck.  Thank you, Progressives and Dems.

I agree, MP!   The commercial is pretty low key... and the commentary afterward is spot on!  I enjoy hearing someone speak with clarity of thought that's backed up with fact. I like the narrator. But the NFL has gone over the PC cliff and it's possible in the next 10 years they'll outlaw tackle football and do flag football.

At least, as of  this morning,  the second amendment is STILL part of our constitutional rights. What's wrong with a commercial reinforcing that/ reminding us all of that???

BTW - as a side note: when discussing the 2nd Amendment with people, I'm always amazed that most people don't know the Amendments to the Constitution were put there to protect us FROM the government,  not from other citizens.

We're not in The Matrix (at least I don't think we are but the people in The Matrix didn't even know it existed so...) and the government is simply made up of "other citizens". Also, the government is often influenced and driven by large sums of money and the the accordant power comes with it. That's typically controlled by "other citizens".

The Constitutional Amendments don't differentiate because there's no need to. No entity can use it's power to prevent you from exercising those rights (theoretically). Both the Government and private organizations may try to do this and you are protected accordingly.

Seriously. Did anyone think for a second that Daniels Defense could afford a superbowl ad? I'm sure the ad would cost near half their revenue  :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: Now if it was a company like Colt.. I could believe it. However, DD only has a couple offerings, no handguns...basically primarily AR15s. How is it believable they can afford a NFL ad.

It would DEFINITELY be extreme for them to drop a million on an ad, but they COULD do it. They've got 126 employees with a payroll of approx $5,500,000 and estimated annual revenue of $12,300,000  off of annual sales of $25,000,000 - $30,000,000 (Sources - http://www.savannahtech.edu/inner.php?press_release_id=650&id=113&pr_year=2012  & http://www.manta.com/c/mmlv353/daniel-defense-inc )

They're admittedly bigger than I had thought. Not saying that changes my opinion of whether or not they'd drop that kind of coin on an ad but they would seem to have the resources if they wanted to. Thing is though, the ad doesn't really sell a product, it sells a mindset. It would be extremely poor allocation of advertising dollars because someone who sees that ad is as likely (if not moreso due to cost) to run out and buy a Bushmaster or DPMS as they are a DD rifle.
