How many Valk riders have switched to the FB6 ?

Noticed this morning an add in the classifieds stating bought an FB6, selling the Valk.

Any others out there that made the change ?

FB6 is no doubt a nice ride but its just not for me.

I recall one poster here doing that, but I don't recall who.  I wouldn't buy it to replace my Valk, but if I wanted a new bike, I would consider it.

I think the F6B has the new Valkyrie beat, at least in the looks department, though that isn't saying a great deal either.  I like F6, but can't cozy up to a wing, so IMHO, the F6B is the best of the 3 flat 6's Honda offers.

I bought my 98 Valk new in 2000. Oct 9 I traded it on a F6B. Would I have liked an 1800 based Valk. YES. My Valk started life as a standard. When traded it had Interstate bags. I thought the I state bags were big. I am more than happy with the caverness F6B bags. The new Valk will be a good STARTING point for some one else.

I've test ridden an F6B and really liked it but it will be some time before I can even think about buying one, if ever. And I don't think it would replace the Gurl. A few years down the road though, I could consider an F6B as a suitable boyfriend for her.

I have two Valkyries and have had 3 other bikes since my first Valkyrie which I still have, so saying that No I wouldn't swap not saying I won't own one but it will Not replace my Valkyries.

I think the F6B is a viable alternative to the Wing.  I personally just can't manage a frame mounted fairing.

I'll be keeping my Valkyries.  Well that is not including the one we bought to sell.

     Willow, what's your misgivings about a frame mounted fairing? I have never owned a bike with a fairing of any kind so I am curious as I have read others with similar thoughts.

I have a 98 Tourer and an '05 wing. I can't tell the difference when riding.

Yes, he rode it to the VOAI Reunion, but I do not believe he got rid of the Valkyrie.

He asked me before the Reunion if it was OK to bring the new bike instead of his Valk, and I said it was fine. I am certain he still has it.  Along with a bunch of other motorcycles!  LOL

Larry kept his Valkyrie, sold the CBR929RR , and bought an F6B in May.  He loves it, especially with the Cobra exhaust which he finally got in Sept.

I also imagined I would have a problem with a fixed fairing, got over that in a hurry after getting a Wing. That bike is pretty nimble and easy to ride. I also would not swap my Valkyrie for a F6B, don't like the way it looks without the rest of it attached.

I imagine it would be easy to get used to the big wrap-around panel of buttons and knobs
since the Wing is such a good bike. But I still don't want a big wrap-around panel

I've ridden with and without a fairing.  If the bike has one I prefer a fairing that moves with the handlebars.

I couldn't afford to keep two bikes so I sold the Valk to use as a down payment.  I did like the looks of the Fat Girl better, but the 6 is a sweet bike.  Lots of power, fuel injection with great gas mileage, rear tire fairly easy to change, handles great, I am not sorry I made the switch.  I would have liked to kept both bikes, but I could only afford one.

What does your butt dyno tell you about which is faster/stronger?  Does it handle better or worse than your Valk?

I rode a fixed fairing for 18 years.  On the plus side, the weight is more efficiently carried on the frame than the bars/forks, steering is lighter, and the bike is a bit more aerodynamic  On the downside, riding thru turns at night, the headlights are somewhat behind the turn.  It was not a big deal to get off the fixed fairing and on a valk interstate.  Well, what was a pretty big deal, the interstate was a crapload more powerful, smooth, reliable, quiet and fun.

My butt dyno says faster, handles about the same, I'm not a real aggressive rider (halffast) but both are good for me.  My buddy that I ride with has a HD with the factory upgrades, my valk smoked him pretty bad, and my F6B smokes him so bad he doesn't even try anymore.

What kind of MPG are you getting?  And is it made to run on 87 octane?

I have got as high as 44mpg, average 42-43, on the expressway running 80-85 I still got 41.  That is running 87 octane.  The F6B board has a poll where most riders average 38, but my bike has never been below 40 mpg.  My serial number is 942 so it was one of the first out. I put 11,000 miles with no problems. Only changed the oil. Rear tire looks like it will go another 2000 or 3000 miles.

I have no doubt that their performance is outstanding. And their even nicely styled. But I like chrome and lots of it. And unless someone has seen one I haven't, chrome doesn't look like an option on these or the one that is supposed to be the new Valk (if I got that right).

I'm with you on the chrome thing, but I figure it's a matter of time.  It's just recently that you've started to see some accessories for the F6B.  I figure it will be the same for the F6C/Goldwing Valkyrie.  The wife doesn't care for the "B", says it looks too "Batman" for her tastes, but is intrigued by the pictures of the "New Valkyrie" enough that she wants to look at it in person before she says anything definite.

I was going to buy a F6B. I test drove a Goldwing and a F6B back to back and I liked the wing better and for a little more money and you get a lot of goodies. But I like the looks of the F6b better. So I went and brought a ST1300. It's faster (I don't need faster but it's fun) It handles great, love the adjustable windshield. I love the ST but the Valkyrie is better looking it's just  a cool bike. I still have my two Valk but will try and sell one this spring.
