Budget Cuts didn't stop this flyover!!

Got this from a friend who lives in Wichita, Kansas. Here's what he sent:

At Arrowhead Stadium Sunday, October 13, 2013....

As you know the budget cuts have eliminated the military flyovers at
large events. Well, there's a group of guys in Kansas City who  
do some formation flying in their own planes and that decided they'd
volunteer to pick up the slack. They invited a couple of other groups
to join them and before they knew it they had 48 guys with their
homemade airplanes signing up to join in. If they had more time,
they probably would have gotten an even larger group as people kept
joining and a 49th was added near the event. One additional feature of
the flyover was the use of pink smoke for cancer awareness. The folks
from the Guinness Book where there and are expected to confirm it as
the largest formation flight ever. And to top it off the crowd later
set the record for the loudest gathering at a football stadium.

I once flew a C172 in a slow spiral down over a Tigers Night game (old Briggs Stadium).  My brother said that is out now, they will pull your ticket and/or shoot you down.

Serk, thanks for the correction. I just posted the message as I received it in the email. That answers a couple questions I had about range/altitude of controlling RC planes.  I deleted the "RC" reference from the original post. Again, ty...I try to state "Nothing but the facts" but sometimes things go awry.

I question why this wasn't covered by every major newspaper and TV station in the US...but sadly, I know the reason why.

budget cuts?  those were civilian aircraft, usually you'd expect a fly over to be military.  I don't think it would have been that hard to come up with 49 volunteers to fly over a stadium, problem is, now some wacko muslim's going to think he can kill a bunch of americans by crashing the party......

They stopped military fly overs so da potus and his queen could came and go anywhere anytime on A F 1. OTHERWISE they couldn't afford 'vacations".  Which begs the question-has doofus actually done enough work to warrant one vacation??????  The gesture and the Fly Over were in a wurd-frikkinawesomefantoostical.  RIDE SAFE.

That's the whole point, Alph. They were civilian aircraft because the military flyovers "might" have gotten curtailed due to the Sequester/budget cuts.
Did you watch the video? You think it'd be pretty easy to just throw 49 pilots together and have the formation come out looking like it did, huh?
It was more than likely a one time idea. I think maybe you've overanalyzed the situation.
