2014 Valkyrie not the first time it's happened

This is hardly the first time that a manufacturer has discontinued a model, only to attach the name to a quite different vehicle a few years later.  Cases in point (forgive me if I'm off a model year or two):

1979 Chevrolet Nova:



1985 Nova:



1977 Dodge Charger:



1982 Charger:



1974 Mercury Monterey:



2004 Monterey:




Honda has taken its name recycling to an even greater extreme.


1985 Honda Odyssey:



1994 Odyssey:



So, given the examples above, I think Honda's new Valkyrie is remarkably similar to the original Valkyrie!
