Wiring a timer on a 220v wall heater?

First I am not an expert but can handle most common wiring. Looking for a little help here. I have a 220v heater wire to a double pole 30a breaker, 10 gauge wire. The heater gas a black, red, and green wire.  I have my black connected to the heater black. My white connected to the heater red. And my bare wire connected to the green.  The heater works fine.

What I would like is a timer to shut the heater off after the predetermined time (like 30 minutes). I would like to use one of those spring loaded, turn the knob, count down timers. 

Is it possible to wire one of those to it?  If so, how?

Problem is we sometimes forget to turn it off and it will run all night.  The heater is actually in a basement bathroom.

not too hard to do.

get a contactor and make sure it has a 120v coil on it (I've got a couple if you need, email me and I can mail it to you)

wire the coil to a regular wall timer, wire the 220v heater through the contactor.  easy-peezie

opps!  that coil is 24 volts.....  DON'T BUY IT!!

Alph's contactor idea would work fine as long as the contacts are rated for the heater's current or higher. Also, that white wire you used to connect to the heater red wire....it goes to the other side of your double pole breaker- beneath the black, correct? Just checkin...If it's part of a two wire romex with ground, it should have a piece of black tape around it or paint mark on it to signify it's not a ground in this instance.
