First two wheeled motorized contraption that I owned was homemade. My aunt/uncle back in the 40's finally got electricity on their farm and my aunt sold me the one cyl. Johnson motor she used to run her washing machine. It was converted to an elec. motor and I got the old one for $5. The following winter, another uncle helped mount it on my big fat tired bicycle, however my folks wouldn't let me use it anywher except around their farm and on the gravel road out front. My first riding experience was on a cousin's Doodle Bug scooter and I was hooked. Must have been about five according to the old pictures. A couple years later he let me use it whenever I wanted around the farm and the road in front. Been riding some form of 2-wheeled motorized contraption ever since. Lot'sa miles behind me, hope there's lot'sa miles still in front.

In retrospect the first bike I owned was a late 70's Yamaha Enduro or some such with a two stroke engine...

My second bike was a 1986 Honda Rebel CMX 450

My first one. $100.

It was 1967, and my mother hated the idea of me getting a bike. I told her, "Darn." She asked why. I simply stated that "my other friends at school are getting into drugs and I wanted to be different". I had this bike two weeks later.  ;D
I ride a motorcycle because nothing transports me as quickly from where I am to who I am.

Before moving from Austin, Minn my dad made me sell my Artic cat snowmobile, said not enough snow in Penn., where we were moving in spring of 1971. Once in Penn. my parents bought me a used Honda SL100. I cut grass and had a paper route the first year and bought a new Kawasaki 125 in the fall of 1972, as well as a basket case Honda 360 Scrambler I rebuilt, not knowing much about what I was doing but it was great for the paper route in rual PA. Moved to Des Planes, Ill in 1973, and Tampa in 1974. Ya, I moved a lot as a kid, my dad's corporate stuff. Had many bikes since  moving to Florida, used to be a lot of canal and grove riding in Tampa in the early seventys. Never really got attached to any of them. First true roadable bike, a used Honda 550 4, don't even remember what year it was!

My first bike was a 1965 BSA Lighting 650 and when my dad found out , he kick me out the house
at the old age of 16... Found out later he hated motorcycle because when he was a teenager he was riding with a friend in the rain and when they passed under a tree they hit a pile of cow crap (lol) and went down and he broke an arm..... Let me back in the house in about 5 weeks....

First was a Lambretta scooter.
Next a Ducati Monza.
Triumph TR6   First new one in 1964
Got married had twins no bikes for a while.
Got divorced bought a "68 Harley XLCH mildly chopped.  (extended front end with spool wheel)
Got sensible and bought a new CB750 in "72.
Had to have a GL1000 as soon as they came out.
Rode the GL1000 until the GL1200 came out in "84.
Kept that until my first Valk in 2003. It was a 2001 I/S.
Bum knee that has since been replaced forced me into a trike.  Thought I needed reverse with a trike so bought a "98 SE and had a Champion installed.  Shortly after buying the bike and ordering the kit I ran into a guy with a Valk trike.  I told him the best bike I ever owned was my Valk.  But  health issues convinced me to get a trike with reverse.  He said you don't need reverse with a trike.  The hard part about backing a 800 pound motor is balancing it. He proceeded to show me by putting one hand on the handlebar and one on the speaker pod and easily pushing his Valk back.
Well I was already committed to the Wing.  That was in 2007 and while I have thoroughly enjoyed the Wing trike I just had to have another Valk.  So in Oct. I bought a "99 I/S and am having a RoadSmith installed. Hope to be able to get it to FL. sometime before the end of Jan.  In the meantime I will continue to enjoy the Wing.
Hope to see some of you at Bert and Sherries.
We were at Jerry and Sherries.

My first was a mini bike my Dad bought me in 71. Think I was in 7th or 8th grade at the time? Not a motorcycle but I was hooked!  :D
I've had six motorcycles since then and currently own two.

This is what started my addiction.

My little brother got one of those to play with in elementary school (the folks bought it to put aboard their boat, so they had transportation at the places they traveled to, the handlebars folded down).  When I was in elementary, all I got was a Schwinn.

Don't have a picture handy, but the first was a 1958 sears allstate, cost me $315.00 brand new. Was a lot of money then. Rode the crap out of that thing. About once a month had to remove the carbon from the exhaust ports, if I did not, it would steadily lose power. After that went to a bone shaker cushman, damm thing vibrated so bad, at 45 mph would blur your vision.

In 1969 I bought a Sears 106ss.  Made by Gelera.  $199.99.  I wore a blue knit cap, pulled way down in front, like Jim Bronson.  My gang was Rick, on a 250cc Hustler, me, george on a Yahama step-thru 90cc?, and a cat on a 50cc Puch.  What a bunch of bad asses we (thought) were.

When I was 8-yrs old, my dad bought us kids a Honda 50cc.  After I turned 18, I bought a Kaw KH400.  My dad was going to co-sign for my first vehicle until he found out it was a motorcycle.  He told me not to even bring it home; I parked it in the garage that night and never heard a word about it.  My Dad was a Police Officer and wanted to be a Motorcycle Cop, but my Mom put the Kibosh on that dream.  With seven kids in the house she did think it was a good idea.

Been a lot of bikes after the KH but most of them have been Hondas.

Only my younger brother and I ride motorcycles in the family, we call it therapy.  :crazy2:

Remember the mini-bike in Dumb and Dumber? That was mine a buddy had a honda JR 50 we rode the dog stuff out of those things after that I didn't own another two wheeled vehicle till I was OUT OF MOM's house but as soon as I could afford it (not really) I bought a Kawasaki 750,sold that bought a honda shadow1100 then a Valkyrie (still have) then another shadow then a VTX 1800 traded that in on a Harley street glide sold it and bought a Valk I/S.
1997 Bumble Bee
1999 Interstate (sold)

1964 Honda CB160. This was the first MC I actually "owned" by myself. I was in the Air Force by then and out of the house. I had part "ownership" in a couple of Step-through Honda 90's that I chipped in on, and rode, but were kept at a friends house since my folks said "No", and when dear old Dad said "No", that's what it was.

Too many others since then, although I can name about a dozen or so, that stick out (some for the wrong reasons). :'(
