Tire report

After posting a few times of my Avon mileage, I finally changed the rear Cobra. Most of my riding is freeway commuting on rubberized asphalt. Speeds at 72 (65 limit). The old Cobra went 26,970 miles. I can't believe it either, but my records prove it.

WHATEVER yer doin-just keep on doin it getting that thar mileage you AIN'T doin nuttin wrong.  Looks like it might could have gone anudder 1000 or so.  RIDE SAFE.

I can't argue with that.....      I can't imagine anyone getting 27000 out of any bike tire, let alone a  REAR bike tire.    Roads there must be smooth as glass and you must be a light weight as well....

Type of road surface does tend to dictate tire life, but a good tire on one type will tend to be a good tire on another as well.

What pressure are you running they look like they wore very evenly, do you do any carving on the twisties or just mainly Highways

That is some good wear for a tire with that mileage , Makes me glad that's what  I'm running.

it's got to be the rubber impregnated pavement you guys have got down there.  isn't it the 101?  that's an awesome road, really nice and smooth, not to mention quiet. 

just to be forewarned, be careful of my sister in law and her mental kids, they've bragged on facebook before about texting and driving.  my stupid niece actually posted how she almost hit a guy on a cycle while texting. (I confronted her on that one, she then deleted me as a "friend")

you guys are so lucky to not have your roads freeze to -20 one day, then be +40 the next!!  that's what we're going to have from todays high to tomorrow nights low!!

I run the same tires and have seen very little wear in the last 10,000 miles.  They're the best tires I've ever had on my Valk.  Some here hate them though.  I guess, like everything else, YMMV.

I have a compressor and keep them at 42F and 46R. Never let them fall very far. Don't ride very many twisties. Mostly commuting on the 101 (you're right Alph).

I have an old nearly unused Venom on the rear, it is standing up very well, looks good at 10k. It was on an old spare wheel that I picked up cheap. I mounted the old wheel and tire last time I needed a rear tire. I know of several brand tires that will last into the 20k range.  Off course I use them up before changing them.  Hoser

Wonder what I was doing that caused all my rear tires to die before 10K miles?  It may just be the roads around the DFW area that kill the MC tires, but at least the Darkside tires are lasting 30K and more.

Pretty amazing - would not think it could be done.

problem with that type of road, it wouldn't be able to handle a snow plow!! (well, not for long!!)

I've lived here 42 years and have yet to see a snowplow.
