keystone pipeline (sorry, political)

recently there was a train derailment in north Dakota where a load of crude oil exploded after the wreck.  it seems to me that it would have made more sense to transport the crude by pipeline instead of by rail, the way it's been since the turn of the LAST century.  but there's a problem, it seams that warren buffet owns BNSF, or holds a large share of the company, and good old warren is a financial backer of the obummer's.

does someone else smell a rat?  

could it be that there was a good reason why obummer opposed the keystone pipeline?  and does it make sense that the oil is being transported 1500+ miles across the country to refineries in Texas and other places to be refined instead of building a refinery in THAT area then shipping the finished product out to the consumer?

this whole keystone think is starting to stink, and hopefully, BNSF gets hit with a huge clean up fine, but I'm sure good 'ol buffet will have his buddy obummer bail him out.

Them who has-gets. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer and pick up the tab.  Heard something bout the 1% or less deciding what's best for the rest of us.  RIDE SAFE.

Although I'm can't claim to be fully informed, I'm betting BNSF has insurance to cover clean up costs.    I'll also suggest that the rail road lobby has enough political influence to make this a government clean up project similar to the bail out of GM.   We all know who's going to pay and it won't be Buffet.   

It does make a lot of sense to build or position refining operations closer to the source thereby reducing transportation costs of base product to final product but, the NIMBY attitude runs rampant through out this country.   No one wants a refinery close to their home or the costs associated with clean up costs.

The last I heard, there hasn't been any new refineries in America in MANY years. EPA regs won't allow it. There have been several train wrecks in the area this year. The talks of a pipeline have heated up lately.
