I got my 2014 Valkyrie today.

My wife's 115,000 mile old worn out 1999 Tourer was such a blast to crank and spin that rear tire...I can only imagine what this new beast will be like.

No I haven't seen one but I sure want to ride one.

I understand lusting for a new ride. But when I get on my blown Valk all is forgotten. For about $4 grand you get 2000cc+ of seductive power that delivers from idle on up.  I get to keep my chrome and I only have one carburetor to maintain!

I think few will question how awesome the performance will be. I just can't get by how fugly they designed a bike to slip the proud Valkyrie name on.......and the riding position looks terrible; I hope that rider is tall or most will be in for a world of pain after an hour hunched over like that....and they usually use short riders for promotional shots...

How can you make an assessment of how the rider actually sits on the new Valkyrie? The rider is clearly hunched over to reduce air drag and or improve weight distribution on an aggressive launch. How many drag racers do you see laid back? Have you not ever leaned into the handlebars when accelerating hard? It seems you're just trying way too hard to dislike this new Valkyrie.

I had to add risers to my Interstate for a more comfortable ride.  It was a reach for me without them, and I'm a very tall 5' 6" 
So I'm sure a would have to add risers to this new designed bike they named,  Valkyrie  ??? ..

Truth be told, I've added taller risers to most bikes I owned (not dirt).

And it us shorter guys that need them more than the Hulks.

Poor picture to use for promotion then isn't it? There are several new Valk threads at the top of the list here right now so yeah, I've stated my opinion of it enough today. But I haven't had to "try too much at all to dislike the new Valkyrie". It's easy........

That pic of the new Valk with a rider pushing 5' and 100lbs. is a joke.  The guys keester barely fills up 1/2 the seating surface.  Not many of us Valk riders that small, not even Hoser.

I've been doing a lot of thinking about the new "Valkyrie".   It was obviously not meant to be a clone but, an updated version.   I'm guessing the updated version was intended to be marketed to the younger buyer.   It doesn't appear to be impressing the "older" Valkyrie enthusiast but, I could be wrong.   I can only speak for myself.  

I really hope the aftermarket or Mother Honda comes up with some products to improve the looks of this bike.   It honestly doesn't do much for me in the looks department.   I have no doubt it'll perform and handle well but, those are not the only characteristics potential Valkyrie buyers are looking for.   I have no doubt Honda will sell some of these hot bikes but, I suspect this is Honda's way of lowering engine/drivetrain components in preparation for a new Gold Wing.    It really doesn't matter why, I just find it somewhat frustrating that we don't get enough respect from Honda to put some real effort into giving us what we want.    Then, I think about it a bit more and decided that we only get as much respect from Honda as our cash flow represents.   Those of us who are stuck on the old Valkyrie cruisers most likely won't buy very many of the new Valkyrie cruisers.    Truthfully, the new Valkyrie is priced out of my reach.   I'm simply not going to go borrow that much money so I can replace something I'm already in love with and is no where even close to needing to be replaced.   My Old Fat Lady just keeps on rolling, why would I consider letting her go?

When I test rode my 97 standard (new) I had one helluva grin on my face when I pulled back into the dealer and the owners son who is their sales person (very small dealer all family) came out and said well BARRY what did you think and I said Heath that one is mine till it dies or I do write up the paperwork. I still have it and love it just them same as that day. But have had several other bikes since that being said I think all who ride the Valk love them and most will keep them or why would so many have more than one. (I do) that being said I wouldn't get rid of either of mine for the new one but am not saying I won't have one or an FB6. Do I wish they more resembled the older one yes but we all knew that would never happen (rune) those designs are 17 years old.plastic is much cheaper than Chrome can you imagine the asking price if it had a chromed out engine like the old on Only time will tell if it is a flop or not.

All I know is the 1800 Goldwing I test rode felt way more powerful and faster than my Valkyrie. I would imagine that the new Valk, being about 175 pounds lighter than the GW would be faster again.

Yes, buckhorns were on HD Sportsters forever.  They suck, but the idea of straightening out your wrists is a good concept.   With the big pullback on the Harley Deuce risers, my wrists occasionally get sore, 'cause they are not straight on the big/wide valk bars (mostly the throttle side you do not let go very often).  Most with too much reach to the bars get back or shoulder pain or at least discomfort.  I am pretty good at fixing my triangle (seat, feet and hands) to get the position I want for riding.  Mostly needed taller risers in the mix. 

Drag bars in the proper position allow your wrists to be perfectly straight, but getting them on a valk is problematic.

Is it just me, or does it seem more like an F6B minus bags/windshield than a band-new Valk Standard?  For those who remember, what all was different between the '97 Valk Standard and the same-year Gold Wings other than the no-plastic stuff?

Some of us are just not catching on to what Honda is doing. 

Honda has had phenomenal success with their Goldwing line.  They have come to realize there are those who are impressed with the mechanics but don't really want or need all the plastic and rest of the half-Civic stuff.  They're releasing a line that corresponds to the Valkyrie Standard, Tourer and Interstate offering.

They are presenting the traditional Goldwing, the F6B, and the Goldwing Valkyrie to meet that market.

The new Valk has a different frame than the GW/F6B, and the engine is tuned differently.
