Need advise (for a friend)

I know that people on this site would never judge,  so Im asking what my pal should do.

On New Years Eve, (John) went out drinking,   for the first time in his life, he left his bike and took a cab home.  On the way to his house he passed a motorcycle check point, being in a cab they waved him through. He was soooo thankful.  The question is what should he do with the cab? It has been hidden in his garage since that night.
