So where, exactly,,,,, is the best place to make the electrical connection for my fuel shut off valve?   :coolsmiley:

If you can specify color code of the wires,,, all the better....    ;)

Plan on, puttin it in,,,, tomorrow.    :D

First off you need to get a shop manual ...  When I install one I use hot side of one of the coils
or if they have an Acc fuse box I tie in there...

I have,,,,,,,,,,, a shop manual.  :cooldude:

Have read here in a few places that connection at the coil can cause probs.

Also read, addin load sometimes requires,,, adding a relay.    :coolsmiley:

Askin,,,,,,,,,,,,,, cause I wanna do this,, ONCE........

The question is why are you installing the shut off valve.?

To prevent hydro-lock, then the ACC wire in the side cover. I had mine to ACC circuit to a 20a relay and fuse each output circuit with the appropriate amperage fuse.

If you want to add anti-theft..  then put a hidden switch in series prior to the shut off valve.

I have a belly tank now, so installed a fuel pump which I handle it the same way.

I used an ACC wire in the side cover too.
Make sure you select one that comes on with th ignition circuit when you turn the key.
I installed it with an in-line fuse, no relay....works fine.
If I want to use the anti-theft feature I just remove the fuse but a switch is a good idea too.

Doin it to spare myself motor probs,,, down da road...

No belly tank,,, or, anti theft switch.

I guess this ''accessory wire'' will be in my Clymers, now that I know'''' what to look for.   :coolsmiley:

Read the install instructions on my tech page where you found the picture.  Your questions are already answered there.  Hint - it's the output wire from the kill switch - also found inside the headlight bucket, at the coils, and at the ECM. Color given on my tech page. RTFM.  http://www.horseapple.com/Valkyrie/Tech_Tips/Fuel_Shutoff/fuel_shutoff.html

Worked out that it went in pretty quickly,,,,, doin it dat way...  :o

Also deleted,, da massive rear turn signal, plate mount assy.

Wired my beetle bags lights up ta be blinkers, mounted Kuryakyn curved lighted plate holder.  :cooldude:

Added set of longer risers, Rewired several sections dat were left subpar from P.O.

Bout half done wit doin alla da mods, I'm doin,,, finish up,,,,,,,,,,,,, manana..  :D

Oh do tell... how you installed it without removing the air box?????    ???

Again, please excuse my naivete. I am not the most electrical proficient person out there.

My understanding from reading is the Dan-Marc can be wired with 1) kill switch, 2) relay, 3) neither. And that an ACC connection located under the right side cover can be the hot wire connection as long as it is energized when the key is turned to the on position. Am I close on that?

Can the Dan-Marc be mounted where the PAIR valve used to be?

What I want to do is get rid of the OEM petcock and also install the Dan-Marc to alleviate the potential for hydro-lock.

Just pulled da wires offa da 2 coils n' moved em outta da way.

Reached in there with a single edged razor blade n' cut da existing line about 3/4 inch from the end of da plastic sheath it's in.

Mounted da shutoff (Used WD40 ta get em to slide together without much effort) n' clamped with screw type clamp, secured  valve with a couple of wire ties.

Added bout a 2'' piece to da shut off clamped to valve n' tank.

Used brass fittings got from Napa, shorter then the ones,,, I've seen used in pics round here.  :coolsmiley:

They have only 1 ''barb'' on da end, n' just enuff space fer da clamp between barb, n' hex area.

Wired it to the existing wire dat had been,  fer da runnin lights in da beetle bags, (which are now blinkers) connected to,,,, da ACC source....

Just took bike fer a ride,,, n' everything I worked on ,,,,,works     :D

Im going to do this when I desmog. Already have a manual pingle so why not add a dan marc? Just more insurance.

Mine still has,, da smog crapola,, in place....  :coolsmiley:

Runs great,,,,,
so I'm leavin well enuff,,,,, alone...  :D

98 rember you put a stop engine fuel shut off if it has bad floats or neadles and you leave the key on running or  it will hydro lock.pouch

I'm pretty sure the black/white wire off the kill sw (same circuit at the coils and ECM) goes down with the tip-over relay.  Though I didn't test it or study the schematic for that.  That's the wire I powered my anti-hijack/theft latch relay (that powers the Dan-marc) from.  No issues or problems using that wire.

Here's BonS's diagram for installing a latch-relay to make it anti-theft.  Power it from the bl/wh wire and you kill the dan-marc power with the kill sw, the ignition, or tipping it over (I think).

Does anybody have a pic for location of the acc wire, color? I found the 10 amp fuse acc fuse under the right side pannel but where do I access the juice?

I too-----wanna do this ONCE.

Thanks for the help,

Bone

Does this help?  The wire is found in the boot where the red arrow is pointing.
