According to my Governor I am an "Extreme Conservative" believing in traditional marriage, being against gun control and abortion. He has stated there is no place in New York for people like me.

I'd recommend moving.

Just a short drive to South Philly, no?

After the last two elections in my Dominon State, I am afraid VA will be added to that map.  Like many other places, we own a vast territory of counties, but the FSA and liberal North owns the election box.

Were I to move my considerations along with politics would be taxes and weather. A place with warmer temperatures and less snow, good hunting and fishing a big plus. I have traveled through many states in the south and like them all. Tennessee and Kentucky were some of my favorites, Texas also would be a player. A small farm similar to the one I have here in NY in one of those states would suit me pretty well.

Just imagine what would happen if Christie, or any other Repub, would say:

"liberals do not belong in our state."

The coverage would dwarf the bridge scandal.

He would be hounded by the media and liberals until he had to resign.

The "inclusive", "tolerant" liberals, as they always tout themselves.

They are, unless someone disagrees with their ideas.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, prince andrew isn't much different from his father. So, New Yorkers knew what what they were voting for. But, New York has been a long time democratic domaine and its liberalism is growing. All one has to do is look at its debt to tell how it has been run.
I'm dug in so I'm probably not moving anytime soon. If I were to move it would probably be to the Florida keys, another liberal sanctuary. I like south east Texas, maybe I should look there.

living here wisconsin for the last (to god damn many) several years, i've noticed that under tommy thompson we had one of the highest tax rates, almost the highest in the nation!  we were number 3 under a republican governor.  we were behind new york and i think it was deleware (not sure, it was about 15 years ago)

now that we've got scott walker (another republican) our state has a surplus of several hundred million dollars!  and boy oh boy did the libertards go crazy over his initial spending cuts!  people were protesting day and night!!

Like wise in MI.  Our first republican governor in a long time and we now have a budget surplus.  Dems want to send it on roads and education.  They have already raised or gas taxes to cover the roads, what they need to do is get rid of the overweight MI freight trains ruining our roads.  as far as education goes, they have been throwing money down that hole for years and the quality of public education continues to decline.  Give our money back to us, let us spend it as we see fit.  Last time I checked , this was a relatively free country.

New York is now over $300 billion in debt with no end in sight. I have no idea how it can dig its way out of this hole. I can't remember a year when our taxes haven't increased and I don't see our schools, roads or anything getting any better except for its welfare programs.

As long as good people stay in these places, you'll be supplying the funds and work to keep the junkies hooked on their addictions, and they won't start to get clean until their victims are no longer there for them to leech off of...

I should be looking to buy land so I can build a house within 7-10 years from now. Unfortunately wife's job has us tied to ny for now.

Thats true. There were some great gun makers in this state that have gone OOB or have moved over the years. ATI, PTR, LaFever, Ithaca, Remington. I'm not far from the last two and that sure doesn't help out the local economy.
Its not just the gun makers that are being 'forced' out which has/causes many old/long time upstaters leaving as well. New York at one time lived up to its name, The Empire State. No longer though. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so, I place the blame on democrat administrations with all their related agendas.

I found it very interesting, I just shipped 4 AR15 lower receivers back to ATI to be swapped out for the newer version, and the fact that I was shipping AR15's into New York caught my eye. So at least part of their operations are still behind the Iron Curtain...

Oh, and, I forgot to stick this in the previous post. I'm one of those weirdo's that has a ' Repeal the SAFE ACT ' sign in my front yard. Its surprising the number of locals that have no idea what the SAFE ACT is. Its the new list of gun laws recently enacted hastily after the Newtown shooting. They are causing some extra problems in this state and was to be part of Cuomo's pitch for president in '16. Many feel he stepped on his dick and the resulting backlash has blown any chances he would have had.

Don't know how much accuracy one can put into this but it does give some kind of idea where the folks that do move are heading off to. The north east does not appear to be very popular these days.

You see those commercials where you are ?  Yep, they're all over here. No taxes and/or utilities for 10 years. Great deal huh ?  The established business next door now has to make up up for it !  Typical of NY, this will probably [ surely] drive more companies out of state or OOB. Politicians are unbelievable in their stupidity.
