I just got a call from an indian in reguards to microsoft windows. Told him my crap works fine and not to call me ever again. He wanted my credit card number so I said sure, it is 1333 go f*** yourself.then he hung up on me.

Patrick

I wonder just how many will talk with him and give them what he asks for. Scary.

This is sadly a pretty common scam that's been going on for a few years... And sadly, works way too often...

I got the same call about a week ago, definitely sounded Indian. Asked for me by name, said he was returning my call re. the difficulty I was having with my computer. Told him flat out I didn't call, didn't have any problems with my computer, and if I did I wouldn't talk to someone like him that couldn't speak decent English. He started in again so I hung up on him.

Patrick

When we get calls like that now, we say to hang on for a minute, set down the phone down and walk away for an hour.

Gavin you were to nice to him. I have had the same call before and you were a lot nicer than I was can't say what I told him cause it would deleted off the forum. But I can say this it did have something to do with his mommy.

In this last week I've gotten 4 or 5 calls from 000-000-0000 claiming to be from some internet security agency, calling about the reports of malicious stuff from my computer.. Just told him to call the police department..

I've gotten other calls from various area codes, rings once or twice, but no one ever there. After looking up the numbers in the net, it appears they are trying to get you to call back - to a number from Granada, or some other such country and run up you phone bill for international calling.

I got a similar call (trying to sell me something) a few years ago and I old the guy that I was really interested but busy at the moment and ask for his # and told him I would call him back. He says yes sir my # is 800-000-0000 and I stopped him half way through the # and I said no I want your home phone # and he said I can't give you that, I proceeded to tell him if I couldn't have his home # then he should quit f???ing calling mine. Never heard another peep. :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:

If I don't recognize the number on caller I D or the call is showing a blocked number I let it go to voice mail. Have received lotsa calls but not one voice mail!  :uglystupid2: I drove truck-I KNOW how to play ignore.  :cooldude: I have answered and NOT said anything.  They get frustrated and hang up.  ;D I have way more time to screw with them than they have to screw with me!  RIDE SAFE.

there's another scam where the caller calls, rings your phone line once, then hangs up.  your caller ID shows a "473" area code number (or something like that) some people are curious enough to call that number and once they call they're charged a dollar.  nothing too much, but still, get enough curious people and it starts to pay off!!

the other day I was at work, some guy called and told my wife my loan was approved!  my wife said "he doesn't need a loan" and she hung up.  he called right back, saying that I applied for a loan, and that it was approved.  she hung up again, she said his English was so horrible she could barely understand him.

several months ago, a lady called me asking for my brother, saying that he was going to be served a subpoena and I needed to help her get in touch with him.  she left messages on my two daughters phones saying we need to get ahold of her to straighten things out.  a month passed, then she was saying "I" was going to be issued a subpoena!  for something in Illinois, I told her to "bring it on!!" and I would look forward in a good legal case 'cause it'd been a while since I took someone to court!  she then asked "why are you a lawyer?" (I figured she can lie to me, so I could lie to her) I said yes!  and that I would like to have my subpoena delivered to my address with in 24 hours! needless to say, it never came, and she stopped calling me....... (and my brother)

there are so many scammers now a days, it's really amazing to think "what if they're for real?" once?   but you know they never are......

We have a weekly local paper here where I reside. I talk with and have coffee with our chief of Police once in awhile. The scammers hit this area also and some of them hit paydirt.  :'( The truly sad part is most of the money ends up overseas with little or no recourse.  :-X RIDE SAFE.

At my house..when we get those kind of calls..we call it "free entertainment" !We all gather around the phone and put it on speaker while whoever was the lucky winner in our house to answer the call , gets to mess with them.We actually look forward to those calls !

Not necessarily scammers, but telemarketers in general, if you have some toddlers around, hand the toddler the phone and tell 'em it's Santa Claus...

We've been getting them up this way too. All started after we found out the debit card info got scooped up in the Target data breach.  Wouldn't be too bad but the call at all sorts of insane hours.  You want an unpleasant phone call, call my house at 2am and tell me you're from windows, or HP, or the local loan collection agency and will take my car if I don't give you $500 in prepaid card in the next hour, etc. etc. etc.  3-4 times a day at all hours and almost every day.

The Indian guy called me today. His name was "earl". I told him my name was
Vinod Gupta. He wanted to know if I had a computer. I asked him if he thought
I should go look. It kind of went downhill from there  :)
