I'll be surprised if they make it all the way from Iran.  I'm not sure the Iranians have the logistics, skill, or money to get multiple ships over here at the same time.  

A port visit is a good idea: may be a good thing for a bunch of honest Iranian sailors taking their experiences of what Americans are really like back to Iran.  We as a nation are sometimes misrepresented by our politicians.  

Precautions before allowing them into port, absolutely!  Unless they are carrying a nuke or something of the sort I don't see any real threat.  More likely they would port visit in Cuba I think.

For me, the only real "message" that would be sent is "we actually made it!  Now how the heck do we get all the way back to Iran???"

I had a iranian roomate that weighed some 100# in college that was trying to develop a strain of corn that had more of the  molecular bonds that humans break down....I tried to display some interest in his culture but being pre med we had fleeting contact       he tried to show me the focused in 3 person protests in a 1,000 person crowd the media trumpted       so when is the last time the media told you you the truth about anything???????
