Skinhead

I think this is one of the most beautiful cities, and it is a great area for riding (outside the city of course!)  I can't wait to get back there.

Greenville got kind of run down in the 70s, they've revitalized the heck out of it since then. Someone
must have photoshopped out all the cars, I wish I could find a parking place on Main street  ;)

The old days...

Britman - Don't doubt you at all... In America 100 years is a long time, but 100 miles is a short distance... In the UK 100 miles is a long distance, but 100 years is a short time.

When I was a wee lad I lived walking distance from this for several years:

My mom would take me there for picnic and I'd feed pieces of bread to the very aggressive and greedy geese that were on the grounds.

This isn't the actual house we lived in, but looks sorta similar to it, and in the same area (Woodstock, near Oxford)

The High Street was a very nice place to spend some time.

This was all possible because of the RAF and USAF's tight working conditions, and my dad being a Captain in the USAF afforded us certain luxuries...

I wish I had been older to appreciate and remember more of the place the years I spent there, I was really a wee lad even by the end...

I have picked up several habits that are very British that I carry with me to this day (Crossing my 7s, using the fork in my right hand, knife in my left hand, when cutting a piece of meat, other subtle little habits I picked up there...)
Never ask a geek 'Why?',just nod your head and slowly back away...

Blenheim Palace is beautiful inside. Outside it's a tad blatantly ostentasious.

If you are a leftie then fork right and knife left is correct. Otherwise.....................

Crossing 7's is Germanic. I used to do it as well cause I was schooled in Germany from the age of 7 - 11 years old.

You're right, I was celebrating my European heritage by enjoying some Scotch before/while making that post. The knife goes in the right hand, the fork goes in the left.

And I've been celebrating my American citizenship by enjoying my friends Miller, Jose and Jim  ;D

In preparation for the freezing rain event supposed to arrive Tues night / Wed morning  :o

..

My self sleuthing regarding hand / utensil in the USA compared to the UK is that when settlers travelled chances are that they would have a knife but no fork. So it became the norm to use a knife with the right hand (most people are right handed) which eventually morphed to people being able to afford a fork and therefore using it with the "knife" hand.

That's how I do it when cutting/eating meat or other heavy foods. Coming from an Italian adopted and raised by Germans....in the Midwest. Guess I got the best of both worlds.  ;D
