Leonard Knight of Salvation Mountain Died

We went out there a couple of times and I can remember Rob and I talking to him. He worked on that mountain for over 20 years and it looks like it will be preserved as a pop culture thing.

Sorry to hear that. I remember meeting him once and he was quite a friendly person, full of life and  goodwill towards everybody.

Interesting story--he was from the Eastern US, became devoted to Jesus and just started driving west to start a new life.  Of all places he arrived at the slabs, and he said he was told by God that's where we was supposed to build a monument to love and perform his ministry.

I'm sorry to hear he passed.  I can't imagine living out there in the heat of the desert in the back of an old truck without air conditioning for 40 or 50 years to build that monument.  He was unique.  I'd like to head back out there sometime.

I was sorry to hear about his passing too. He was a quite a man.  Salvation mountain was a main stay for visiting guest while living in Brawley. RIP Leonard.
