you guys hear about this lady?  her daughter posted that she had a boyfriend and mom got all ticked off over it and posted a video scolding her daughter over having a boyfriend on facebook!!  mom goes off and says if she does it again she's going to beat her!!  I guess the mom doesn't like her "pre-teen" daughter having a boyfriend. 

my opinion, and most people that have raised kids might agree, the tighter you try to hold onto your kids, the faster they'll slip through your fingers. my advice to this lady would be; let her have a boy friend, but intimidate the living hell out of the guy!!  if a boy is afraid of the parents, he'll be afraid of touching the daughter!!  (but then she'll be attracted to tougher boys that could beat up mom)

I raised four daughters and every one wanted to "go steady" while still in jr. high. I told them no problem, just don't leave the front yard. They gave me that deer in the headlight look and dropped the subject.

I put my arm around the prospect and told him I KNEW she was as safe with him, as she would be with me.  Because any thing he did to her I was gonna do to him.
Another one, I took out into the desert a ways. Just a "Get to know you" thing.
I handed him a shovel and he dug a decent hole.
After he was done he asked why I had hin dig the hole. (I was astonished he hadnt asked earlier) and told him if he hurts her I'm not gonna have alot of time to dig.
Her current interest is a kid I like. He's seen the hole though.

Took my daughters first boy type friend out to the range with me and my Ruger single six. Had go put up a target at 100'. He came back picked up my Ruger-iron sights-put the first round in the bulls eye we got in my pickup and I told him he was a much easier target. He said "yessir-i DO understand"-and I said-DO NOT forget EVER. RIDE SAFE.

having gone thru 2 'boyfriends' now age 14, now 15, my daughter might be on her 3rd very soon.  NOT impressed with #1 or #2 and seriously wanted to kill literally the first one age 14 at the time after he posted false crap on facebook about her causing my daughter to freak out and have a meltdown for weeks.  I was just about ready to drive the 15 miles to his house and beat the crap out of him.  I'll gladly spend 1 year in jail for the beating if it meant keeping him far away from my daughter.  2nd one was a yahoo, very redneck and very dangerous.  I found out he took my daughter for a ride on his atv at his family farm and a few days later he flipped it and crashed same atv.  Told him (and my daughter) if he ever gets my daughter on an atv ever again,  he won't be around to live to tell about it.  I scared him off and don't think he liked me after that.  Good riddens to all of them.  Told my daughter she is too young to have a boyfriend but she won't listen and told her to wait until senior in high school or out of high school to start dating.  Thinking she doesn't like that either. 

boys are easier to handle once 14 on up for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never had a problem with my daughters boyfriends.

They knew I worked for the CHP and they were afraid to hurt her or screw around with her.

They figured I had a good access to the county pokie.

Only had to run one off the place.     He ended up getting her girl friend knocked up.    Daughter said something about it and I told her she was lucky that wasn't her in that predicament.

Actually, I didn't have any problems with any of my kids.     They also kind of looked out for their siblings.

The story I always like about them looking out for the girls.    Everyone, even divorced people visited this one place up in the Mtn a little ways.   Called Make-out knob.

My oldest son, hapeened to frequent that place and found some guy trying to make out with his sister.    He yanked him out of his car, stomped the crap out of him and told the guy he never wanted to see him around his sister again.

He told her brother, well hell dude it is all over school she is a makeout Queen.  Her brother said yeah, I heard you were passing that word around.    I asked my sister if it was true and she said no, you were hurt cause you got turned down for the dance a few weeks ago.

He then informed him he best clear her name of any of this untrue BS and it better be started on  real quick.     He said we will start now and I'll take my sister home.

Never ever saw the kid again, till he joined the CHP, and after he graduated from the Academy, he told them he did not want to be assigned to the same area I was.     He ended up in San Diego.     He had 5 years on the force when he was killed in a motor accident.    Left turner, no signal and could hardly see over the wheel.     She got 4 years probation and I don't remember how many community service hours she got.

I wore a black tape strip over my badge for about 5 months in his behalf.  Luckily her was not married.    Was engaged, but hadn't tied the knot yet.

my oldest daughter (20) has been dating a nice guy.  he's 21, down to earth, works 40+ hours a week.  I've tried to encourage him to go to college and get a degree, but he says he's not school material (neither was I, but I know the importance of that stupid little piece of paper that says "you're smart").  my other daughter (17) is dating a guy that's really nice too.  neither one of them would have EVER considered bringing a boy friend home when they were younger.  I wonder if they were afraid of the motor cycle in the garage

Glad to hear your 20/17 year old are going out with decent guys.  Still think 14 is too young, even 16, especially with guys that think they know it all and do stupid, crazy stuff.  I can't stand it when the first one came over and tried to tell ME what to do like he knew it all.  He even asked me to let him drive my cycle.  He had some balls to ask me that only 14.  I told him he'd have to grow a pair first.   

Why is it that the good looking nice girls always go for goofballs in high school?  I  know a few kids in my daughters class that are nice guys but she always hangs out with the crazies.

Alph, off topic, but how much snow up there today heard over 9" up northern WI.  Southern WI no snow but 40+ mph winds out right now and very heavy rain past day melting some of this white stuff finally.    Can't wait until April comes to get the bike out and about!!!

OH the good old days. My son in in his mid 40s and my daughter in early 40s. We have two beautiful grand daughters and one grandson. My daughter was trouble as a teenager and my son did some stupid things like me at that age. He had the police helicopter chase him home once because the police car couldn't keep up with him on his sport bike. Thankfully they got to be good parents and we are proud of both.

To daughters here just turned 18 and 15 and an older son (21) who's just about the easiest you could ever ask for (Dean's Honor Roll at university, good athlete, loves God, good work ethic and has a nice girlfriend). Even brings good beer when he's home 

Unfortunately, youngest daughter is in the pretty girl club; her and all her friends are the slim, athletic, makeup, hair and clothes crowd. And boys... thankfully she's seen a few friends cycle through the boys with all the drama and hurt that comes with the territory. A ton that ask her out saying she's the only one they care about and when she declines, they're going out with someone else by Friday.

She's brought two boys around different times a few years ago and i take each for a few hour walk in the woods with my German Shepherd and a weapon on my belt. We have a very one sided chat about how special the daughter is to me, what parts are off limits (all) and how their time together will be with US and not alone. You can only do so much but I'm sure they get the message.

And she's never been on a "date" with a boy that can drive yet. That ain't gonna happen for awhile.

But I have news for you guys, these days it's the girls who are far far more aggressive (if you know school teachers, you'll find that to be true).

You do your best to give them a good head, set expectations and hope they don't act like you did at that age.

we got 7 1/2 inches of wet heavy snow.  so wet that it had a "blue" tint to it!!  of course when I saw that torques blue I imagined being in the Caribbean on a cruise ship!! (didn't help, I'm still in Wisconsin!!) 

just finished with the snow blower.  had a tensioner fall off, then the drive belt was twisted around so badly that it wouldn't stay on!!  bad part is I had to either shovel a way out to my heated shed to work on the snow blower, or freeze my hands off in the garage trying to fix it!!  so, because I don't like having a sore back, I froze my fingers off in the garage!  had the next door neighbor lady not giving us a $100 for watching her house when she was in Arizona last month, I wouldn't have done her driveway, but I felt bad taking her money and not really "working" for it!!

maybe the hwy. dept. can use salt brine from WI cheese like I heard on the news in far northern WI thus reducing the road salt need they say by 40%.  Great idea helping the cheesemakers for reducing the cost for removal of brine waste residue from making cheese while helping WI roads stay safe.

We have made a killing shoveling by hand mostly, except 2 times this winter with snowblower,  at 10-20 bucks everytime on our elderly neighbors very steep driveway.  She technically owes me for 2 more 2" snowfalls at 10 bucks each since she was not there at the time,  but thinking I'll let it slide since we have had dozens of 2-3" snowfalls like every 3-4 days here in southern WI.

Get ready next week for the deep freeze yet again,  -15 below zero for lows - BRRRR - will this crap NEVER end!

When in high school I dated a girl from a well known and very wealthy family. Our first date I was to pick her up at her house annd take her to dinner and a movie. I knocked on the door and her dad answered and invited me in. On the kitchen table there were several guns. One was a bushmaster ar-15 in 223, another was a 450 marlin lever action and a 45-70 marlin lever action, and a 44 mag super red hawk revolver. He was amazed I knew what they were by just glancing at them. He said how do you know so much about these guns. I just said lucky guess, then the girlfried said dad, he works at the gun store. I still talk with him from time to time and have traded a few guns with him even though I moved on with my life and his daughter moved on with hers.
