Do you allow other folks to ride your VALK?

My feeling is that if he/she never rode a Valkyrie, mine won't be their first.
Also, you'd be well advised to not let me ride your Valk. I tend to fall for no apparent reason.

My cousin just sold his 2K-mile Valkyrie RUNE for $20k to buy a house. 
He recently rode both my Valks and now he can't wait to get a REAL Valkyrie in his new garage.

Those I have offered to ride my bikes, is a very short list (2-3).  (I carry NO comprehensive/collision coverage, never have).

They all declined, but one.......... I got to ride his Rocket Three.  

But the car tire scared the poop right out of him.  (I made him clean it up)

In his defense, we only swapped for a few miles of curves, and he had no previous exp. and he went easy.

On the other hand, I rode his like I stole it.  

I would probably let any good valk rider ride mine (swap bikes), on the clear understanding if he wrecked it, I would wreck his too.  Nothing personal, just business.  Why people would swap is a good question.  A car tire tryout maybe?  I have never ridden a std/tourer.

Only one guy... a fellow I worked with who had MCs in the past. There is an abandoned 1/2 mile air strip near my place. I met him there then watched him take my bike for a few runs back and forth - sans traffic. I knew he was good for any subsequent repair costs. After a few laps around the air strip he parked it, then went to town and purchased one of his own. His bike hasn't seen the light of day for many years. Will be a barn find for somebody someday.  

My kid, who had a sport bike at the time, took it out one day . . . after admiring the bike the CHP (a fellow rider) was nice and only wrote him for 20 over (85) so it wouldn't hurt quite so much.

In the past I have allowed a few to drive one, the experiences were not good ones.
I learned my lesson.

I like my friends so I do not want to see them hurt themselves.
Especially on something I loaned them.

My brother let me ride his a LONG time ago so YES I would let him ride mine. Unless it's a blower bike or injected a Valkyrie is a Valkyrie is a Valkyrie. RIDE SAFE.

I might be a little on the strange side, but I grew up in a small farm town where all of the guys I ran around with traded cars, bikes, tractors and horses all the time.  If something happened, we all helped to fix it. (or shoot the horse).  I won't let a pure rookie ride mine, but have offered many times when out with different groups to let folks try the trike to see how it feels.  Its just a machine.

I've let my wife ride my Valk, a good female friend of mine who'd just started riding, several other friends, some of which had never ridden a motorcycle before.

If I trust them enough to consider them a good friend, I trust them to ride my (well insured) motorcycle, Valk or not. Obviously, this is on a case by case basis on how trustworthy I feel they are, but yeah, I'll let others ride my bikes...

Last spring, just after the snow was melted and the roads cleared, I took Ratchet out for the 1st real "shake down" run of the year, 300 miler. Kinda work related, definitely rode to fast.  And then as I was nearing home I saw a neighbor out (good guy) and I stopped for a quick chat.  He is a die hard Harley Panhead rider, and still had his bike in storage.  I could see he was itching for a ride so I offered up the Honda and he took me up on it.  I walked the quarter mile home and he showed up about 30 minutes later with such a dam grin on his face he couldn't shake it.  Before he rode it I gave him permission to let it rip, and I think he did.  He couldn't believe how smooth it rode at 80, "like your sitting on your living room couch" he said.  Sometimes I forget the harshness of other rides, that is until you see the grin on their face.

I suspect this year he will be standing at the end of his driveway, waiting for me to cruise by. 

Some people you can trust, some not.  What does your gut tell you?

Only one other person has ridden mine since I have owned it. He owns a valk also, and my list is really short for who would be welcome to ride it. 2 maybe 3 people come to mind and none of them are family.

I let a friend ride mine. He rode a small Honda cruiser. He hated it. He said it didn't feel like a motorcycle. Too smooth. Whatever.

I've let a couple VRCC people ride MGM, he had a blower and a car tire.

1 rider came back and got off very easy, and walked like he had a turd in is drawers.   I never asked and I think he might have had one.

So far except for the 2 mentioned above, they have all been family except the tech where I bought the bike.    Family was my son and daughter, my youngest ones.      They are the 2 that will get the Chevy Trike and MGM when grandpa gets tossed in the furnace.     One of the Trike's will haul me to the Iowa Veterans Cemetery for burial.     NO formal services.    Just haul the urn to the cemetery and hand them to the grounds keeper who digs and buries.

He put it together while I was watching, he got it done fired it up and took off up the street.

In the meantime I'm dealing with the dealer for about the 3rd or 4th time.

He finally said ZIPPO out the door.   Included he said was title, license and an extended 3 year warranty that kicked in after the 2 year regular warranty.

So I handed him the key, title and current registration to the Harley, took the plate off and put it on MGM, took my bowling ball out of the tour pack, squeezed it in the saddlebag and took off.   

I heard later that the owner of the shop and the Service Manager both commented that lad will end up cracking that bike up and I sure as hell hope we don't have to repair it.

Last year late in the season, I asked the owner if he remembered saying that.   He said yeah, but I was reminded you were a retired CHP motor officer.   MGM was only down once, that was in the back garage, I rolled in, put the side stand down and stepped off.    Ooops, the side stand didn't stay down.   NO DAMAGE.     Also, was too firkin heavy to man handle & try to save.

I'm fully insured, so why not? No-one has, and the few at work that I would trust wouldn't. There's respect there.

However, if you want to ride her but don't want me following on your bike, no. Tit for tat, buddy!

If riding with with someone that I know knows how to ride a big bike, then we've swapped and rode together. Of course the bike I end up on is usually a Harley, which is fine as it reminds me to never ever sell the Valk.

Pam still has a few minor issues but she is back to work and looking forward to riding again.
Her bike's repair was within $100.00 of what she paid for it, but I have a friend that runs a local dealers service department and repaired it to a condition that is as good as new. However she says that I cannot ride her bike!!!!

for a spin, because he wanted to see how one rode with a car tire.  I politely declined.  I felt bad afterward.  But at 16, the town's bad ass intimidated me into letting him take my little
Yamaha 80 for a spin.  He wasn't gone that long, but it seemed like an eternity...thought he stole it (he and his brothers had quite the criminal history).  Vowed that day that I would never feel that way again.  I also vowed that I would never allow another human to victimize me, in any way.  I have kept both self promises.

Its a short list, but yes there are a few.  Several of my club brothers have stood and stared for a while, and when I offer they just get a sort of uncomfortable look and wander away.
  One of them jumped me on the toll way a few years back with his HD Ultra with the 103in (from when that was the big motor)  I let him get a car or 2 past then dropped a gear and went after him.  He let off immediately when I downshifted.  At the next fuel stop I asked what had happened, and he said that when I downed it he realized that he had f*cked up....

Ever since then they all give her a bit of a strange look.  And no one says anything more about my riding a Honda either.

Nope. If anything goes wrong, there's loads of trouble on the back side, and a friendship is probably instantly destroyed. (I would never consider letting a stranger drive it.) Probably the only way I would consider it is if we both agreed upfront on the value of my Valk and he gave me the full amount, in cash, prior to riding it. That way if something happened, there's no argument or questions. You wrecked it. I have the money. It's your wrecked Valk now to do with as you please.

Same goes for my cars.

other than my immediate family, there has only been two other people I've ever let sit on my seat.  one is a fellow Valk rider (NITRO) the other was this amazing woman!!  unless I know that the person can handle the valk would I allow them to ride it, and I don't have much faith in people.....

I think it's even more telling if you let your spouse, child, etc. ride with someone else. I'd be less inclined to let my wife ride with someone else than ride my valk. As much as I like it, the Valk is still replaceable.
