Losing precious gasoline

Filled up Saturday and gas poured out the over flow by the Kickstand pushed it away from the pump it stopped filled up a bit later .... Same thing not sure why, stuck float ? Any suggestions ? Of course some one took pictures of it every time but I hope they fail to be posted .... Hate to see the big girl crying ....got home turned the gas off petcock working fine still .....sure hope I don't have to overhaul the carbs

Stuck float would be my first guess. I would put the gas treatment/ carb cleaner right too it. Make sure you give it the gentile bump on the starter button, to make sure you don't get a hydrolock.

May be coming out the vent hose. When I fill up in the summer if it sits in the sun it will come gushing out. Wouldn't seem like it would be warm enough now for that but who knows, if it's only doing it when you fill up.

Yeah, the overflow tube at the kickstand is the tank vent.

If it really is siphoning out of the tank vent, then I would think the problem (if there is a problem) has nothing to do with the carburetors or the float valves.

If gas pours out from the carb bank when the engine is running only then Id suspect the carbs.

I would make sure the tank vent hose is still connected to the 3-way connector with an open end...that is a siphon break.  Without that you could have what you have happened easier

I suppose it's possible that this could be caused by a hole in the vent tube within the tank.  Has anyone heard of a motorcycle tank vent tube rusting through?  Next time the tank is close to empty it might be a good idea to have a look with an inspection camera, (a.k.a. borescope).
