Probably a dumb question about rear shock orientation

Just finished up servicing the rear end and driveline. I was wondering if the orientation of a rear shock is important. Obviously what shock goes to what side is important, but does it matter what way the shock faces to the outside?    ???

Dont think it matters. I turned mine to were can read the setting at arrow outside. One note may want to check your bushings. They are known to wear.

can't adjust the one way I believe.
they can only be swapped from side to side if the bottom bushings are switched

Every time I service the rear end the shocks just get laid on the shelf. I am reasonably certain sides have been swapped as well as orientation. P O had buffed them out nicely and when they are off the bike a little elbow grease keeps em thataway!  RIDE SAFE.
