Got in a little riding today.

I rode down to Ottawa and Starved Rock and practiced a little bit on the twisties. It's about the only place in this part of Illinois that has both curves and elevation change. Gotta get ready for June.

Good deal Wiggy I got out today and went for a 150 mile putt  and got the best fuel mileage I have ever gotten on my 97 standard almost 39 mPg it usually gets around 30-32 and no I didn't take it easy I wound her tight many times  hope it continues

Bighead, I think pretty soon the whole VRCC will be out riding and sharing our pics. Good job on the gas mileage. I probably get in the low 30's with my Interstate, but with the new Mark T pipes, it's hard to stay out of the throttle.

Hey I run stock pipes and have never do you hear me never taken it easy I run her up to 5k on the tach on nearly every takeoff

Thanks, Joe. Can't wait till June to experience the sights and roads of that area....but getting back to the picture I took., have you ever seen a railroad bridge that raises and lowers to let ships/barges pass? Not sure if it's done strictly from the cables or if there are locks that keep it in place. Trains and their cargo can weigh quite a bit. Derned if I know. Ah....on second glance, maybe it just lowers onto the pillar supports. Duh.

  When I was a kid my grandmother lived in Asheville, so I was there a lot.  Every summer we spent vacations in western NC in mtns above Franklin.  I love those areas and great roads including BRP.

   But . . . . if I were to choose a state with great roads, and could only choose one, it would be California. 

  but that is what is great about motorcycling.  we can go out on the great roads wherever we are.  and there are many great places throughout.     good to hear you got out for some nice miles wiggydotcom

Years ago, we got to experience some of California's roads. We rode through the Mojave Desert in July at 2 in the afternoon. We were 30 miles from Death Valley and the temp was 118. I actually felt like I was cooking. Rode from  Long Beach all the way up the coast of Cali to Portland, Ore.

We also got to experience PH1 and it was beautiful. Got to ride through Redwood National Park. Great memories.

Like you said about great roads being all over, that's why I like to go to Inzane; it gives us the chance to experience different roads, landmarks, and breathtaking views.

  yep that's a problem with the desert and my weather will soon be in those numbers.  but what's nice around me is I can head up in elevation pretty quickly for cooler weather.

 did that ride through Death Valley recently with the SOCAL Valkyrie group for a great ride.  mid to upper 70s in one of the hottest places in the world.  July at mid day is NOT the time to go there.

To answer your questions, that's a Rivco Center stand...no longer made until a recent run, which is probably in process right now. And that's a Yokohama Avid Envigor 205/60R 16. As Willow would say, it was designed for a car, but obviously it's a bike tire now.
