Over the winter I: rebuilt carbs, all fluids changed, rear bearing mod to double 5204's, starter switch cleaned, new yoke and final drive overhaul (thanks to lube never being done before by PO), new dark-side tire (Yokohama avid enviger), rebuild petcock, de-smog (got it apart, why not?), and a Dan-marc fuel solenoid added. Need to warm the babe up so I can sync the carbs and it reached the mid 40's and sunny today so off into the wind. Five miles out no gas!!! WTH? LED rocker switch blew the accessory fuse. Bypass that and get about another couple miles and no gas again!!!!!!! Double WTH? Turned the petcock spring and diaphragm around making a gravity feed to get back. Best she ran all day . Did the carb sync when I got back.

Only thing that I don't like is the gasping for air when she is shut down, like the breather line is restricted into the tank. But there is no restriction on that line I can find.

There is supposed to be a "T" in the vent hose off the back of the tank , about 6" down.  You cut the hose and put the T in line ,leaving one port open.    It is a vacuum break to allow it to breathe .

That is the line that is is wheezing. The lines are new with a new "T" in place. When I blow into it (blocking the "T"), I hear bubbling in the tank. There is no apparent blockage since very little pressure is required to get bubbling. But it seems to continue to draw air after the engine is shut off. Could the line be too small an ID? ??? I used 1/8 ID line when I replaced it.

Try and open the gas cap. Some have reported cracking open the gas cap to vent the tank a vaccum forms stopping fuel flow.

There should not be any bubbling when you blow into the vent line. The vent line enters the tank above the fuel level in the tank, even with a full tank. An unrestricted vent line will not continue to suck air after the engine is shut off.

Might want to get a good look inside the tank without any fuel to see the condition,, maybe the metal vent line has rusted off inside the tank??
