Sept. 21 1976  April 2 2014. SGT. Owens is one of the victims of the Ft. Hood Texas shootings/murders. Sgt. Owens left a Wife-Billy Lynda Kaye Owens and 3 Children-Loredana  Veronica Owens-17  Elizabeth Ann Rowe-12  and Nathaniel Lane Rowe-14. It was my Distinct Honor to stand a P G R Flagline in Rolla Mo. today for Sgt. Owens-may he FOREVER R I P. Sgt. Owens final resting place is Lake Spring Cemetery-Lake Spring Mo, When we left the church today 6 MILES of streets were lined with American Flags on both sides. People were on the side walks with Flags holding Salutes or hands over Hearts and a Farmer on the 14 mile escort had a large American Flag hung from the extended bucket of an end loader. All along the 14 mile escort people were out paying final tribute to Sgt. Owens and his Family. I was/am completely humbled by the show of support for Sgt. Owens today. I went to the V F W post 2025 today for a meal and rememberance after the funeral. I was riding in the escort and when I saw the Flags and the people I got a bit misty eyed while riding. As I post this and remember I'm finding the gnats have found my puter yet again. RIDE SAFE.

I don't know what to say, what a shame.
When will they stop insisting these are just acts of 'work place violence'. Our military has some real problems on its hands and I don't know what if anything they are doing about it.

Thanks you for paying tribute Sgt. Owens.  Your not the only one who has a problem with gnats at these events.

God Bless him and his family.

Thank you for the escort.

I have been talking to my brother (O2S) before and after this mission. In this mornings paper was the article on procession. I was stationed a Fort Hood in the 60's. It hit close to home. To loose your life on home soil by another soldier . I do not know what to say.
I have always said that I rate a friend as someone I would go into battle with, They do not have to fight  , but watch my back!
                                        RIP SGT T.W.Owens

After a nights reflection here are some other aspects of yesterdays ride. For the folks having Flags and others with their hand over their heart I gave a thumbs up with my left hand. For the currently serving and the Vets that were Saluting I pulled in my clutch lever and Saluted with my right hand. When we got to the cemetery the Flag I received there the lower edge of the Flag was about 6 inches above my head and for those that have met me you know I ain't a midget. Anybody that has seen Saving Private Ryan the opening sequence as Flags ruffiling in the breeze making a very distinctive sound-I had that sound yesterday as the wind was hitting me in the back and the Flag at times was held straight out by said wind. The rest of the time the Flags were popping and snapping in the breeze. Our ride Captain out of Rolla Mo.-Mark Williams had about a 20 second sound byte on the 10 P M news on A B C-channel 33 last night. While I understand a Uniformed Service member getting killed in combat I DO NOT understand Armed Service members KILLING one another on an American base or any American base for that matter. RIDE SAFE.
