Ride On .... Not really

Ride-On-Tire-Sealant... My ridin' bud Paul ( Wimp ) took a weekend ride down into south Georgia to check out the motorcycle drag races . On the way down his rear tire went flat. He thought it was a small screw like the ones used in drywall. He claimed the Ride On was all over everything under his bike( tire ,wheel , swing-arm and saddlebag rack/stay  ) .. Maybe the folks that swear by this stuff never had anything happen that would cause a flat

If the plugging fibers do not get into the hole and do their thing.... It will leak out fluid.  I had a small nail and it leaked past the nail with a wet spot and that is how I noticed the nail. That stuff is water soluble so it's not like it's glue or corrosive or anything.

believe it or not sometimes you have to make the hole bigger for it to seal right

and if it isnt dead center in the tire it probably wont work

When BigBF took off my battleaxe we saw the ride on only was about 3" across the tire. Yet the contact patch is better than 4" wide at all times

Made me think that I should have put the car formula in there instead of the motorcycle formula

It aint perfect Joe, but its better than nothing at 8 bucks a bottle (buy from the dinged bottle section when available)  16 bux for enough to coat a 200 rear tire

Thats less than I spend on a fill up on a 150 mile ride, cheap enough for me

It worked on 2 nails in my beemer tire but the 2nd one I did have to ream a bit

I went to the local Honda dealer, they had ride-on for a cycle tire, $16 per bottle!!  I thought that was NUTZ!!  although I do know a guy that has used it, and loves it. 

I've never used it, so I don't have any comments.

Yes, sometimes you do have to make the hole bigger for th fibers to seal it.  At that point I was making it bigger for a plug.  Quad Boss is similar, much cheaper and I know some that are using that.  Even I went with that on one of my antique bikes that is tubeless.  I might have to consider the car tire formula in my rear Austone....or just use Quad Boss and hope for the best.

My mt. bike has tubeless tires. They only work because of some ride-on like goo that
people put in them. It must not be quite like ride on, because it seals at the
bead as well as on the tread. There's a Utube video of some guy in Europe
putting it in his tire with a needle and syringe, it seals the needle hole too.



I put mine in with this syringe that has a tube with a valve stem connector on
it, I plan to install my ride on in my new Avon with this thing and see
how it works...



Ride on seems to balance well, and I hope it keeps me
from ruining a ride (the mild bunch won't leave you behind if
you break down, so one flat impacts everyone...)

If perhaps like Wimp you have a lot of flats. Or bad tire luck.

Devils advocate, if you get enough damage in a tire, and they all seal.

Let's say you get one more puncture and the tire rips or tears between holes.

You have catastrophic tire failure, and it blows like a tube tire can.

Was it worth the extra dollars, or did you just kill yourself with tire sealant.

I put air in my tires, sometimes nitrogen, but that is only if they do it for free.

Check you air pressure often, plug when you have too, at least you are aware of your

tire condition at all times. I have had only one flat on a trip, Smokin Joe and Wimp plugged it,

Joe's compressor aired it up. Rode the tire for 5,000 more miles, worn out and I replaced it.

The most neglected article on a bike I have noticed is not changing the valve stems regularly.

Those are regular maintenance as well.

Crazyhorse is right! Mfg recommends 11 ounces in rear and 8 in front. Those are minimums, and they state that using more does not hurt at all. They recommend an additional 25%. That makes the front 10 ounces and the rear almost 14 ounces. What Oss said is right-the less you use the narrower the band of protection. It's not cheap, but I think the protection, plus the balancing and IMHO it also helps keep the tire cooler. I use three 8 ounce bottles for the Valk. No issues.

OK... I have been using Ride-On since 2002...(we were dealers  back then)
I have to knock on wood ..I have not had a flat in well over 200K miles (this is not a typo)..
But then again I ride like a girl 

We  do put the MAX amount in the tires..
And use the High-speed formula.. ;)If that means anything....
